Purgatorium
It provides a space for those to whom globalization and bureaucracy do not give a place in this world, Nontheless, the project maintains the border control in a super infraestructura, based on vertical separation as per on length of stay. Composed by a initial ground level of encounter and finish on the top with the idyllic scenario of "Purgatorium".

General Comments The competiton poses a highly complex and difficult question. The restriction to use the bridge as project site narrows down the solutions to - in the best case- intelligent and technical design solutions. Because of that many of the projects don’t reflect on the question of migration politics, social challenges, and the real problems beyond the architectural solution. To evaluate the projects my priority was to look for a basic reflection on the migration situation and the related design challenge and a the basic idea of the project related to this reflection. The further development of the project has to be coherent to this idea and the design outcome has to reflect somehow the values of the idea. The criteria of proper representation helps to understand the idea and the development. Not the best looking image is the winner, but the most coherent graphic language and argumentation line. The compliance of the room program I don’t consider relevant in this stage of design, so all the project have the same evaluation. Particular comment I like the idea of taking advantage of the "no mans land" and grow it so it becomes an independent third-state in between the two countries. If both countries would donate a strip along the border there would be enough land to form a new small country for people that can`t be in their home-country nor in the "promised land". What you call the "purgatory" (I find the name missleading beacuse of it´s biblic meaning), where people are "trapped" should be in the big courtyard/explanade). Nice simbolic represention (donut) of the utopic/distopic idea of the no-mans-land.
An ambitious proposal which succeeds offering an alternative solution to border crossing related problems. The strength of the images helps to conduct the narrative that comes from understanding the context and tackling the most basic needs for the asylum seekers.
The proposal has an absolutely clear presentation and a very positive impact on the observer. There is a direct relationship at the conceptual level with the objective of the contest and with a very acute understanding of the reality of the users. The above while presenting formal clarity as a whole, but neglecting some programmatic and scale relationships.
