Jan Mattsson

Jan Mattsson, President of Sweco Architects, holds a M.Sc. degree in Architecture from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. During Mattsson’s almost 14 years as president, the Group has grown into one of the world’s 10 largest architecture and urban planning companies, with 700 employees in Sweden and another 600 in northern Europe. The local market and to be customer-oriented are of great importance to Sweco’s business and have always been on top of Jan Mattsson’s agenda. Another key factor for business development has been to increase exports on growing markets, such as China, the Middle East and Africa. Jan Mattsson has managed to lead and develop a creative business as part of a large technical consultant company and at the same time maintain good profitability. High-level architecture and design together with well-developed management skills have been success factors. Through training and experience Jan Mattsson has developed a high-level of leadership skills. He is people oriented and has a high capacity, is brave and uses his personal characteristics to lead and develop business and people. He is a very good communicator and can convey messages that make people motivate.
Stephen Van Dyck
Partner, LMN Architects, United States
Stephen is a Partner at LMN Architects in Seattle, where he leads the design and delivery of a variety of projects ranging from large scale public assembly, civic infrastructure and spaces for higher education. Stephen’s design approach seeks to create high-performance buildings and an engaging public realm, producing inventive solutions for contemporary programmatic needs, environmental conditions and urban influences. He is widely recognized as an industry authority on the application of technologies to the design and construction process, and he helps direct the investigations of LMN Tech Studio, the firm’s in-house research and development group.
Andy Nettleton
Director/Co-founder, Dive Architects, Sweden
Andy studied at Leeds and the Mackintosh School of Architecture in Glasgow. Following working experience in Oporto, Berlin, Paris, and London, in 2001 together with Ia Hjärre, he founded Dive Architects in London. At Dive we believe creative, high-quality architecture is the result of an engaged and close dialogue with our clients. Today we drive that philosophy through the team of professionals we work with both here in Stockholm and internationally. At Dive Architects, Andy has worked with a variety of projects from urban, cultural and commercial to private residential, in Sweden and the UK, Africa, China, and the Middle East.
Niels Marius Askim
Architect/Partner, Askim/Lantto architects, Norway
Niels Marius Askim, born 10.07.1964 in Trondheim , Norway, is educated at the Oslo School of Architecture in 1991 and has been working in Askim/ Lantto architects since 1998. The firm covers a wide range of skills within the field of design and architecture. The office background of experience includes the design of urban spaces and landscapes, museums and cultural centers, housing, furniture, and exhibition design. Askim/Lantto Architects treats each design task with a unique and individual approach, based on conceptual thinking. As architects, we try and develop the projects with integrity, related to the specific project brief and framework, the site and contextual character. The general starting point is based on functionality, spatial and material awareness as the main design tools and guidelines. The majority of the project in the office has established by taking part in and winning design competitions.
