Nestled on a dramatic escarpment along the Vistula River, the 35:35 Slope House is a breathtaking architectural statement by Warsaw-based 77 Studio Architecture. This innovative residence exemplifies the harmony between modern design and natural topography, redefining the concept of site-sensitive architecture.

Architecture in Dialogue with Nature

The design leverages the site's natural elevation, embedding the horizontal structure directly into the green slope. This deliberate approach allows the house to seemingly vanish into the landscape when viewed from across the riverbank. Not only does the home blend visually with its surroundings, but it also ensures an unmatched level of privacy and intimacy for the residents.

The panoramic structure stretches alongside the river, offering expansive glass façades that dissolve the boundary between interior and exterior. The design philosophy emphasizes minimal intervention, allowing the surrounding Mazovian plains and riverscape to become integral components of the spatial experience.

Landscape Integration and Eco-Conscious Design

One of the most striking features is the infinity pool, which merges visually with the Vistula River 35 meters and 35 centimeters below—giving the house its unique name, “35:35 House.” From within the living spaces, the pool appears to extend into the river, blurring the lines between architecture and the environment.

The home’s green roof, complete with native vegetation, continues the natural slope of the escarpment, transforming the architecture into part of the terrain. This eco-friendly roof garden not only enhances insulation and biodiversity but also offers panoramic views of the vast Polish landscape.

Thoughtful Spatial Zoning and Wind Protection

Designed in a C-shaped layout, the structure creates a sheltered inner patio that protects against strong winds common in open riverbank locations. This semi-enclosed space includes a cozy outdoor fireplace and a sail-covered sitting area, forming a protected outdoor retreat.

Inside, spatial planning is clearly defined. The main living areas—open-plan kitchen, dining room, lounge, and master suite—are located on the middle level to maximize scenic exposure. Secondary rooms, including guest bedrooms and service areas, occupy the lower level with direct access to the terraced garden.

A New Benchmark in Site-Specific Residential Architecture

With its understated form and exceptional integration with the natural slope, 35:35 Slope House is more than just a home—it’s a landscape experience. It embraces sustainability, serenity, and modern elegance without overshadowing the beauty of its setting.
