Filter Modular Housing: Sustainable Urban Architecture for the Future
Eco-friendly modular housing: sustainable, energy-efficient, and designed for a cleaner, greener future in urban living!
The Filter Modular Housing concept is a groundbreaking solution to the rapid urbanization of modern cities. With the increasing migration of people to metropolises in search of better opportunities, cities face significant challenges such as air pollution, lack of green spaces, and rising energy consumption. This innovative architectural design leverages sustainable architecture to create a self-sufficient, eco-friendly living space that actively contributes to cleaner air and energy production.

A Sustainable Vision for Urban Living
Designed as a response to the environmental consequences of urban expansion, Filter Modular Housing is a modular high-rise structure featuring a honeycomb-inspired layout. This unique geometric configuration not only optimizes space but also integrates air-purifying systems that filter pollution, providing fresh air to residents and the surrounding environment.
Key Features of the Design:
- Eco-Friendly Architecture: Utilizes wind energy to circulate purified air throughout the building.
- Sustainable Energy Production: Converts filtered air into energy-efficient solutions.
- Smart Urban Planning: Designed to be an oasis in densely populated areas, integrating nature into modern living spaces.
- Community-Centric Layout: Incorporates shared spaces on every second floor to encourage social interaction among residents.
- Green Balconies: Each apartment unit features private green spaces, promoting biodiversity and improving air quality.

How the Design Works
The building’s structure is based on a triangular layout, with a central cylindrical elevator and staircase that ensures efficient circulation. Each floor is rotated 15 degrees from the level below to optimize natural airflow. Special air filters are installed at every level, capturing pollutants and transforming the urban landscape into a cleaner, more breathable environment.
Minimalist Living for Maximum Impact
The interiors of the modular units follow a minimalist design inspired by honeycomb cells. The apartments are available in single and double occupancy, maintaining a compact yet functional layout. Residents prioritize meaningful interactions and shared experiences over excessive material possessions, making this housing concept ideal for modern urban lifestyles.

An Award-Winning Innovation
The Filter Modular Housing project is a shortlisted entry in the Plugin Housing Challenge 2020, designed by Ilya Dzemidovich, Justyna Amonowicz, and Monika Biżuta. This forward-thinking approach to sustainable architecture paves the way for cleaner, smarter, and more self-sufficient cities.
By merging modular architecture with green technology, this innovative housing model not only provides affordable housing but also serves as a vital component in the fight against urban pollution.
