Angle Chair
The chair changes lifestyle
The 2021 was a difficult time due to pandemic of COVID – 19 which completly change our world. We stayed at home doing everything online because of risk being infected. Our flats must have been a space for different activition. There were a home office, space for relax, space for doing sport, playing children. All culture’s events must have gone to virtual world. Our computers became the window to the world. As a result we could have contact with family, listen concert of favourite music’s band, take part in workshops or training. In this case we spend more and more time in sitting position. The situation is changing now. We can have hope for back to normal life. Therefore we designed the Angle Chair. It allows using it in limited time. This is not a chair for online work, which involve ergonomic standards, but this is a seating area, which encourage to physical activity. Increased sitting up-time is related to lots of civilization diseases, which increased frequency can be tied with pandemic situation. Designed chair has a task not to accustom user to sedentary lifestyle. A shape of seat enable sitting but it is not comfort in a long period of time. The back of the chair is gently suggested. It is not comfy. The shape reminds about back to reality.
The chair was designed in minimalistic way, because the pandemic is associated with economic crisis which will reach a lot of country. We did not aply any modern and advanced technology which will raise the price. Every day, the Internet attracts us to use it as long as possible so our chair disturbs this feeling. This is real signal to stand up and escape for offline. A modern person is attacted of a lot of impetuses on each side. Virtual world is full of new information. Because of this our chair encourages a change in lifestyle.
Ecology is very important in our project. Therefore the chair was made from recycilingable metal. It is able to reprocessing and reusing. In this way we take care of natural habitat. It is reducing the amount of waste.
The reference colour is ‘13-0647 Illuminating’. That is one of the color of the year 2021 by Pantone. The yellow allude to endurance, optymism, hope and positivity, which we need when reset, revive, create and discover again. Yellow is light and cheery color. There is like a sunbeam, full of energy. On the opposite side there are located white and black colors. There were use interchangeably. On the center you can see a yellow seat which is like a bridge between real and virtul world. It shows that only right balance is giving health and happy life.
The designed chair is not a typically element of interior decoration like a chair from dinnig room but it is sophisticated object. It is built by simply elements connected with archs. That way it is like a sash which shows own beauty on air. The chair refers to natural habitat, because we wanted to encourage awareness of ecological values. The object is an attractive composition which modern person very needs. The project is not obvious.
