The KN Next Office Building, designed by SARC Architects, is the new headquarters for Fiskars Group, strategically positioned as an architectural landmark at the entrance of Keilaniemi, one of the fastest-growing business districts in the Helsinki metropolitan area. Completed in 2021, this 9-story office building combines innovative design, flexible functionality, and sustainability, creating a new standard for modern corporate architecture.

Design Concept

Dynamic Public Interface

The building’s lower three floors act as a vibrant public interface, featuring:

  • Entrance lobby and exhibition spaces
  • Meeting halls for collaborative events
  • Restaurant and social areas fostering community interaction

These spaces encourage employee engagement and connectivity, blending public accessibility with corporate identity.

Flexible Workspaces

Upper floors are designed with versatile office layouts, accommodating:

  • Workshops
  • Meeting rooms
  • Adaptable office units that can connect via interior stairs

This flexibility allows the building to evolve alongside changing workplace needs.

Private Social Amenities

The top floor includes a private social area, providing:

  • Gym and yoga studio
  • Café and lounge spaces
  • Panoramic terrace for relaxation and social interaction

These amenities enhance employee well-being and create a sense of community within the office environment.

Architectural Features

Polygonal Floor Plan

Located on an irregular plot near the Keilaniemi metro station and road junction, the building’s polygonal floor plan maximizes space efficiency while addressing complex site conditions.

Façade Design

The façade features outward-leaning walls and faceted metal panels, some perforated for sun protection, creating:

  • Depth and texture
  • Dynamic interaction with natural light
  • A bold architectural statement

Natural Light & Comfort

Higher floor-to-ceiling heights ensure abundant natural light, improving comfort during Finland’s dark winter months and enhancing the overall workspace experience.

The KN Next Office Building exemplifies modern, flexible, and sustainable office design, integrating innovative architecture, environmental consciousness, and workplace functionality. It serves as both a corporate headquarters and a landmark for Espoo, redefining the standard for contemporary Nordic office buildings.
