New Density DESIGN DESCRIPTION:
Design based on the Concept of Community Self-management
In the context of the epidemic era, epidemics and high-density urban spaces have put forward new requirements for urban design. Based on the needs of future urban development, the design considers that the urban functional space is divided into four aspects: residence, business office, recreation, and medical and health. Then, according to the functional requirements of different users, a modular design is carried out. In this way, a combination of medical treatment + fitness + activities + farm + residential life is created to enrich the community life scene. In the end, the urban vitality is renewed and activated with modular functional design, and the self-sufficiency of urban life is finally realized, and the construction mode of community self-management operation is constructed.
Based on the current single community group model, the goal is to realize the concept of a zero commuting, mixed-use residential community. Research believes that the future residential community must be able to realize self-operation. At the same time, it is necessary to integrate various composite functional modules into the urban community space, and reconstruct a community design model adapted to the epidemic era. In addition, the design believes that the new density model of the city should be a compact urban form to effectively curb urban sprawl, reserve and build more open space, reduce energy consumption, and create a diverse and vibrant urban life for people. Take the respective communities as a unit, build a compact vertical city model, and establish a city functional organization covering the entire life chain and a three-dimensional public space system that connects various functions and carries rich urban life. In summary, the new density is not only a spatial agglomeration, but also a multiple combination of functional space and demand.
The design is based on the concept of community self-operation, and in the context of epidemics and high-density urban space, a community design model featuring self-sufficiency in life, self-supporting production, ecological health, and work-housing balance is constructed. First of all, the design is based on the theme of urban farms, taking the farming culture as an opportunity, combining the train track elements of the existing base, and constructing it into community farms and family farms. Combining special activities such as farming experience, planting display and nature education, attract urban residents to experience the future self-sufficient community life, and create a three-dimensional lifestyle of pastoral leisure. In addition, an organic farm workshop will be built in the family living space, and a family kitchen model integrating viewing, greening and ecology will be established. Second, to build a high-line ecological park as the destination, combined with the high-line park, put cycling fitness lanes to form a group sports and healthy loop. Third, use the vertical neighborhood as a model to construct neighborhood life and promote gatherings and exchanges among community residents. Fourth, with the goal of zero commuting, combining office and residence, creating a model of home office and community leasing office, to reduce the impact of commuting on the epidemic. Finally, the modular design of the public activity space is used to organize and connect community life. At the same time, the medical space is used as a node between office and residence. In response to public health emergencies, the office and residence space will be temporarily divided. As a public service space, the core tube location of each building in the community assumes the function of a traffic organization and provides help for the service and management of community life. In short, the future community must first achieve self-sufficiency in production, enrich residential life, and organize community operations with a healthy and open management model.
In short, in the future, urban communities should adopt green and healthy business concepts and business operation models to create community ecological experience parks. The design plot will be built into an important ecological park landscape node and destination of the High Line Park, and a community ecological loop for healthy sports will be formed. For communities to realize self-operation, they must also become an important event scene for inclusive and open cities. This design model not only realizes the harmonious combination of community life and urban space under normal conditions, but also ensures the self-operation of the community under public health emergencies. Ultimately, the base will be built into the Eden of Manhattan in the post-epidemic era.
