About Discussions Projects52 Journals58 Publications9

Nio Architects is a design practice focused on creating spaces that respond to cultural context, environmental conditions, and social needs. Their work spans residential, institutional, and community-oriented projects that integrate landscape, materiality, and programmatic innovation.

The community explores adaptive reuse of historic structures, vertical and compact living solutions, vernacular architectural references, and sustainable design strategies. Projects range from intimate residential interventions to larger socio-cultural centers that serve as gathering spaces for communities.

Querencia

Querencia is a noun, meaning "a place from which one's strength is drawn, where one feels at home; the place where you are your most authentic self." When the children first met life, an abstract environment was created in which the children became stronger and felt at home by the redefinition of the elements that make up the space.

We chose Sao Paulo as the location for our project. By distributing the individual functions inside the form, we wanted to show how a vertical city could look like. In the spirit of sustainable development, we propose several solutions: kinetic floors, rainwater, quantum glass, aquaphonica.
