Urban boundaries encompass the physical edges, transitions, and thresholds that shape cities. This includes the peripheries where urban meets rural, the borders between communities, and the infrastructural lines that organize metropolitan areas. Designers and architects working in this space examine how these boundaries function socially, ecologically, and spatially.The community explores boundaries through food systems and vertical agriculture, sustainable bridge infrastructure, socially responsive furniture at international borders, and interventions that activate overlooked urban spaces. Projects range from embedding design into existing neighborhoods to reimagining how cities transition into their surrounding landscapes.
