Wellness Architecture
Architecture designed to support physical, mental and emotional health, through spaces for rest, healing, nature contact and contemplative use.
Wellness architecture designs buildings and landscapes that support physical, mental and emotional health. It covers spaces for rest, treatment, retreat and daily restoration, and draws on evidence about how light, materials, air, sound and views to nature affect the people who use them. The field spans spas, ayurvedic and retreat centers, residential sanctuaries and hospitality projects.
Members here share work that treats calm, connection to landscape and local material culture as design goals. Projects range from lakeside retreats and river sanctuaries to ayurveda centers built with timber and laterite, with recurring attention to sustainable construction and the relationship between interior and natural setting.
