Beegraphy's Computational Design Challenge Series
Urban Furniture & Installations
This challenge calls on creative minds from the realms of urban design, landscape architecture, and furniture design to enrich urban life & communal spaces by designing innovative urban furniture and installations that serves as more than just functional seating or structures. The focus is on crafting pieces that not only enhances the visual appeal of public spaces but also promotes interaction and relaxation among community members. These pieces should become integral parts of public spaces, encouraging community engagement and providing aesthetic pleasure. Whether it’s benches, lighting, canopies, or integrated landscape features, each design should contribute to the liveliness and usability of urban environments.
Your design should follow modularity to make replicability of the furniture easier. The overall size of the furniture should be parametrized within 2m x 1m x 1m (disassembled in case of an assembly of multiple items).
In case of Installations, the structure must be parametrized to fit within a predefined area of 15m x 15m and should not exceed a height of 10m, ensuring it complements rather than dominates its urban surroundings.
