Luxury Single-Level Homes: Integrating Landscape and Architecture at RU House by Juan Carlos Sabbagh Arquitectos
Explore RU House by Juan Carlos Sabbagh Arquitectos, a luxury single-level home masterfully integrated with its landscape in Chicureo, Chile.
In the heart of Chicureo, Chile, the RU House stands as a testament to the seamless integration of luxury single-level homes with their natural environments. Designed by Juan Carlos Sabbagh Arquitectos and completed in 2021, this home stretches across 503 m², offering a sophisticated solution to modern living requirements.

Architectural Vision and Design
The Challenge of the Terrain
The site presented a unique challenge with its steep northern slope, necessitating a design that accommodates all living spaces on a single level. The architects’ solution was a semi-buried structure that respects the existing topography, allowing entry from the south via the roof and providing unobstructed northern views of the valley and the adjacent golf course.

The Fifth Facade: Access Through the Roof
Entering through what the architects call the "fifth facade," visitors are greeted by an expansive esplanade that not only serves as a welcoming space but also frames the breathtaking landscape. This area includes a strategically placed parking deck, which covers a wooden volume containing storage spaces and leads to a staircase enveloping a tree, guiding visitors down to the main entrance.

Optimized Layout for Scenic Views and Privacy
Public and Private Spaces
The north side of RU House hosts the public areas like the living room, dining room, and main terrace, all strategically positioned to maximize views. The kitchen and service areas are tucked to the west, shielded from the harsh sun, with easy access to the garden for functional flow during social events.

The Intimacy of the South and East
The office and a secondary living space face a more secluded, sunken patio to the south, ensuring privacy and controlled natural light. The east houses private areas such as bedrooms and bathrooms, each benefiting from morning sunlight and direct garden access.

Integration with Nature: Sustainable and Aesthetic
The Landscape Connection
The design includes a central patio that aids in cross ventilation and natural lighting, enhancing the home's ecological footprint. The north garden, elevated due to the slope, and a strategically placed pool create a continuous grassy area that visually extends into the valley, emphasizing the home's connection with its surroundings.

The Essence of Luxury Single-Level Homes
RU House by Juan Carlos Sabbagh Arquitectos exemplifies how luxury single-level homes can offer both aesthetic appeal and functional benefits. With thoughtful integration into the landscape and careful zoning of living spaces, this home stands as a model of modern architectural innovation.
