Arch Hub Restaurant: A Harmonious Blend of Aesthetics and Functionality
An in-depth look at Arch Hub Restaurant's innovative design blending dining and coworking spaces.
Arch Hub Restaurant is a visionary project by Anna Raeva, Winner entry of RestroNET competition, designed to serve as both a restaurant and a co-working space. This innovative building aims to create an inspiring environment that fosters creativity and productivity. The foundation of the design is based on arches, a timeless architectural element that symbolizes discovery, new beginnings, and the journey into the future.

Aesthetics and Inspiration
Arches have been chosen as the foundation of the building's design. They serve as a key design element intended to create an atmosphere of inspiration and uniqueness. Arches provide the building with recognizability and add visual interest as well as elegance, resulting in a pleasant environment conducive to creativity and positive emotions. Our concept serves as a reminder that beautiful environments can inspire, foster innovation, and make staying in the building enjoyable and productive.
Throughout history, arches have always been associated with festive and significant elevations. Such architectural structures naturally draw attention and intrigue. An arch beckons one to look through and pass beneath it. It is for this reason that arches were chosen as the conceptual and structural foundation for this project. Here, the arch symbolizes discovery, new beginnings, and the journey under the vaulted entrance into a new future.

Problem: Versatility and Functionality
The challenge is to create a versatile building that can adapt to various functions, combining a restaurant and co-working space in the same place. The place is meant to cater to a wide range of needs, from hosting special events, daily dining, Zoom conferences, to providing a serene environment for exam preparation.

Goals
Address the diverse needs of visitors.
Make the building attractive and recognizable.
Establish comfortable and efficient spaces.

Integration of Brick Arches
We are considering the integration of brick arches into the design of the facades. These elements will serve as a symbol of greeting and coziness, creating a unique atmosphere that reflects both the past and the future.

Site Analysis
Site Area: 3,328 sq.m Height Restriction: 10 meters Maximum Built Up Area: 3,328 sq.m Ground Coverage: 30% Access: Private car, public transport, bicycle
The main facade of the building faces Ash St. This orientation provides a better view of the facade from both sides and ensures optimal visibility. The building volume is positioned in a way that preserves the primary trees on the site, creating shared interior spaces under the vaults of the arches.

Design Process and Site Plan
The design process involved dividing the site into six squares, creating shared interior spaces under the vaulted arches. The second volume complements and balances the first, containing the main technical functions of the building.

Courtyard
The central archway reveals an inner courtyard space with benches for visitors to relax. This serene courtyard provides a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. The vaulted structures create private spaces within the inner courtyard, perfect for leisure or outdoor work. From the second floor, visitors can access the atrium balconies and enjoy the California weather during their study or work.

Interior Design
Private workspaces are also designed in the form of arches in the interior construction. These arches provide the opportunity to create private zones within the common area. Transparent doors allow complete isolation from noise, enabling concentration on studying or conducting Zoom conferences and meetings without leaving the restaurant. Each individual office is equipped with independent control of lighting and ventilation.
The Arch Hub Restaurant by Anna Raeva exemplifies architectural innovation by blending aesthetic appeal with functional versatility. The use of arches as the central design element not only adds elegance and visual interest but also creates a recognizable and inspiring environment. This project successfully addresses the diverse needs of its visitors, making it a landmark of architectural excellence in Palo Alto.
