Kofan Coffee Shop by Makhno Studio – A Third-Wave Coffee Experience in Kremenchuk
Kofan Coffee Shop by Makhno Studio in Kremenchuk offers a cozy, minimalist third-wave coffee experience with cappuccino tones and cultural accents.
Kofan Coffee Shop, designed by Makhno Studio, is a masterclass in third-wave coffee culture and modern coffee shop design. Located in the heart of Kremenchuk, Ukraine, this intimate 43-square-meter café offers a fully immersive coffee experience where every detail is curated to delight the senses. From the tactile textures to the visual harmony, Kofan provides a sanctuary for coffee enthusiasts seeking both comfort and aesthetic inspiration.

Design Concept – Cappuccino Mood
The central idea behind Kofan Coffee Shop is to emulate the comforting, warm feeling of being inside a cappuccino cup. Every surface—from walls and ceilings to furniture and lighting—is treated in a singular cappuccino tone. This minimalist approach reduces distractions and enhances the sensory experience of enjoying coffee, allowing patrons to focus on the rich flavors and aroma of their drinks. The walls and ceiling feature voluminous, uneven textures that mimic layers of espresso and milk, creating a cozy and tactile environment.

Iconic Elements – Whimsical & Cultural Touches
Visitors are welcomed by the playful Cappuccino Man statue in the adjacent square—a whimsical introduction to the café. A similar character greets guests at the entrance, reinforcing the café’s unique personality. The interior also features a signature three-dimensional wall ornament, inspired by traditional Ukrainian embroidery, which adds warmth, authenticity, and a touch of artistry to the space.

Functional Design for Baristas
Kofan is designed to support professional coffee preparation. The bar counter and barista corner are crafted from chrome-plated steel, combining durability with sleek aesthetics. This modern material reflects the café’s attention to barista workflow efficiency while evoking the visual of a shiny chrome spoon in a cup of coffee, seamlessly blending function with conceptual design.

Atmospheric Details
Small design details enhance the café’s inviting atmosphere. The solid wood furniture, Garlic pendant lamps, and long ceramic Fleita lamps illuminate key areas, creating a sense of intimacy and charm. These subtle touches interact with guests, cultivating a space that feels personal and comforting. Despite its compact size, Kofan Coffee Shop envelops visitors in a serene, cozy ambiance, offering a refuge from the bustling city outside.

Kofan Coffee Shop – Third-Wave Coffee in Kremenchuk
Kofan Coffee Shop is more than just a café; it’s a carefully crafted coffee journey, blending hospitality architecture, minimalist interior design, and cultural storytelling. Every aspect—from monochromatic interiors to professional-grade barista setups—is designed to foster conviviality, introspection, and a pure enjoyment of coffee. This project exemplifies how modern coffee culture can be expressed through thoughtful design, creating a space that is as visually compelling as it is deliciously aromatic.
