Küster Brizola Office by Küster Brizola Arquitetos: A Sculptural Workspace in the Heart of Curitiba
A minimalist Curitiba office blends microcement surfaces, natural light, and sculptural elements, fostering openness, creativity, and collaborative architectural work.
Located in a modernist building in downtown Curitiba, Brazil, the Küster Brizola Office—a collaborative space for architecture studio Küster Brizola Arquitetos and flooring brand Monofloor Microcimento—presents a minimalist yet expressive design rooted in texture, openness, and functionality. Completed in 2022, the 200 m² office exemplifies refined spatial planning, material unity, and sculptural detailing, forming a standout workspace that embraces natural light, tactile warmth, and creative collaboration.

Modern Office Design in a Modernist Context
Surrounded by large windows offering panoramic city views, the office occupies a floor of an existing modernist building. The design approach takes full advantage of this context, utilizing an open floor plan punctuated by a single, fluid curved partition wall that subtly defines the work, meeting, and lounge areas without interrupting the visual flow or natural light.
This gentle separation avoids traditional compartmentalization, creating an environment that encourages connectivity, openness, and collaboration—ideal for a contemporary architectural practice.

Unified Material Palette & Spatial Continuity
The space is unified by a monolithic microcement finish in a warm sand tone, used continuously across floors and walls. This neutral base emphasizes texture over color, creating a visually calm yet materially rich atmosphere.
In contrast, the **only exposed structural element—a raw concrete pillar—**commands attention. Unfinished and prominently placed at the heart of the office, it stands as a sculptural centerpiece embraced by the curve of the wall, representing both the building's structural past and the design's intentional rawness.

Collaborative Workstations & Functional Integration
The workstations are large and open, designed to stimulate idea exchange among team members. Clean-lined white furniture reinforces cohesion with the architecture and supports the visual simplicity of the space.
Kitchen and bathroom volumes are symmetrically positioned at opposite ends of the room. Treated with a soft flocked finish and a matching ceiling treatment, they contribute to the spatial symmetry while maintaining the minimalist design ethos.

Layered Lighting & Art Integration
Lighting design plays a pivotal role in shaping the atmosphere. Technical lighting runs in linear channels, providing both ambient and task lighting, while decorative fixtures—notably by Brazilian brand Dsgn Selo—blend seamlessly with curated art objects and designer furniture, enriching the space with layered visual interest.

A Minimalist Office with Sculptural Intent
The Küster Brizola Office achieves a balance between minimalism and expression, texture and structure, collaboration and focus. Its sculptural use of space and mindful integration of materials not only reflect the architectural practice it houses but also showcase how modern office interiors can be both functional and inspiring.
