metafori
for the truck drivers and others
We have chosen a round form in order to make most possible use of the base ground and to make the building look distinct and easy for drivers and others to remember.
Construction system:
The main supporting structure is made in concrete/beton.
The house is build in steel.
The dome is made from glass and plast and it is possible to open it. In that way we will have light in the middle with the restaurants, but also in the living rooms. The ventilation system will also be optimized when the dome is opened automatically.
Materials:
Concrete
Steel
Aluminium
Glass/plast
Wood
On the roof there is solar energy system.
Idea of the building:
A place for truckers to relax, take a bath, get some food (bought or made at place) and be together socially, making food together, etc.
This form of building is meant to be used as a hostel, a hotel or another sort of housing for travellers.
Rooms and functions:
- 4 different types of sleeping rooms
- Toilets and baths
- Communal kitchen (for people to make their own food if they wish to)
- Cafe/restaurant
- Supermarket
- Garage for repairing
- Spare parts for trucks
- Room for technicians
- Store room for cleaning equipment
- Doctor/ 1. aid
- Office
- Store room
Building design:
The building consists of ground floor and basement. Each floor is separated in two sections, the Up and the Down.
The Up ground floor is for sleeping areas and the Down ground floor for bathing facilities, toilets, relaxation, kitchen and eating areas.
The four types of sleeping rooms are:
Type a - for 4 persons
Type b - 16 persons
Type c - 24 persons
Type d - 2-3 persons
Shape and design of the building:
We have decided to let the private areas (sleep and bath, etc.) be in the perimeter of the buiding. The cafe/restaurant, relaxing areas and the communal kitchen is in the middle.
The ground level is surrounded by two lines of glass bricks so that light will get into the basement below.
The connection between ground level and basement will be stairs and elevator.
The trucks can park on all levels via driving ramps.
The parking place of each truck is close to the room so the user has very short distance to their things in the truck.
In the basement there is a big ventilation system that is driven with sun energy.
