Set amidst the breathtaking alpine backdrop of Leogang, Austria, the Puradies Nature Resort—designed by renowned architecture studio NOA (Network of Architecture)—redefines the essence of a luxury eco-resort. Originally a humble farmhouse with guest accommodations, the property has evolved into an expansive sustainable wellness retreat, embracing its natural surroundings while offering state-of-the-art amenities.

Architecture Rooted in Landscape and Wellbeing

Spanning over 3,070 square meters, the newly expanded resort includes 76 guest rooms and 14 chalet-style lodges arranged like a serene alpine village. NOA’s intervention focused on seamlessly integrating the new wellness and hospitality facilities into the sloping terrain—ensuring that both architectural form and spatial experience are guided by the site's natural topography.

The design is centered around a low-impact footprint: green roofs blend into the surrounding meadows, while the structure’s undulating lines mimic the rhythm of the hills. Two main axes—one oriented toward the existing natural bathing pond, the other toward the southern hillside—generate dual facades that create visual balance and multiple access points.

A Holistic Spa Experience Inspired by the Four Elements

Responding to the growing demand for immersive wellness experiences, NOA introduced a new spa concept that celebrates the four classical elements—earth, water, air, and fire. This concept is translated into a series of spatial experiences: rough-textured walls represent earth, flowing linen curtains symbolize air, tactile stone finishes invoke water, and a dramatic hanging fireplace in the lounge embodies fire.

Visitors pass through sensory corridors that transition from cozy treatment rooms to panoramic fitness and yoga spaces, eventually arriving at the central wellness wing. Here, an organic children's pool, indoor-outdoor adult pool, lounge areas, and a multi-use yoga/relaxation room form a rhythm of wellness and reflection. At every point, materials such as sisal rugs, wooden ceilings, stone basins, and textile lamps create a grounded, earthy atmosphere that resonates with the resort’s philosophy.

Ess-Enz Restaurant: Culinary Architecture with a View

On the upper level, the newly introduced Ess-Enz à la carte restaurant emerges as a culinary and architectural centerpiece. With wide glass facades and skylights, the restaurant offers expansive views of the alpine scenery, swimming pond, and natural daylight. Inside, curved wooden ceiling elements and hanging greenery echo the silhouette of the nearby mountain ridges, creating an atmosphere of lightness and natural elegance.

Laser-cut wooden light fixtures, dynamic fabric patterns, and carefully placed seating islands further enhance the immersive dining experience. Outside, a sun terrace connects diners with panoramic mountain views and the sweeping meadow beyond, reinforcing the seamless indoor-outdoor relationship.
