Rosvet Veterinary Clinic by VIDA Arquitectura: A Transparent and Functional Veterinary Space in Olot
A modern veterinary clinic in Olot combining transparency, organic forms, and efficient zoning to enhance comfort for pets and owners.
A Veterinary Clinic That Blends Functionality with Transparency
Located in the heart of Olot, Spain, the new Rosvet Veterinary Clinic, designed by VIDA Arquitectura, reimagines the typical veterinary space with a focus on spatial clarity, transparency, and user experience—for both animals and their owners. The clinic occupies a prominent corner site with three street-facing facades, creating high urban visibility but also posing unique spatial planning challenges.
The architectural team embraced the irregular plot by defining a clear boundary between public and private areas, ensuring that each zone supports the clinic's operational efficiency and client comfort.

Site Geometry Turned Spatial Opportunity
The clinic’s corner location at a crossroads presents an opportunity to maximize street presence. Rather than fight the angular geometry of the site, VIDA Arquitectura strategically used it to separate circulation and function. The rear of the clinic is dedicated to private clinical operations, while the front acts as a welcoming and engaging public-facing zone.
The private area, essential for medical procedures and staff functions, is organized behind a solid, opaque partition. Here, clean, rectilinear geometries define rooms and corridors, optimizing workflow and minimizing unnecessary movement. This layout ensures privacy, hygiene, and operational clarity—key components of a veterinary facility.

A Welcoming and Transparent Public Space
In contrast, the public zone of the Rosvet Veterinary Clinic embraces fluidity and light. Located at the front and along the main facades, this area benefits from generous glazing and urban exposure. VIDA Arquitectura designed this space using organic geometries and semi-transparent materials to foster a sense of openness and ease.
Translucent partitions and strategically placed mirrors create a play of reflections, filtered light, and visual continuity, blurring the line between spaces. Examination rooms, often clinical and enclosed in traditional veterinary practices, are treated here as transparent volumes. This design decision not only enhances spatial perception but also builds trust and comfort for pet owners, who can witness the care and attention their animals receive.

Façade Design with Furry Faces
To balance privacy with openness, the architects employed semi-transparent vinyl graphics on the large windows. These vinyls feature images of the clinic’s furry clients, creating a pet-centric identity for the space while controlling views into sensitive interior areas. This tactic ensures street-level engagement while maintaining discretion for clinical operations.

Material Palette and Local Craftsmanship
The clinic incorporates materials sourced from local manufacturers, including custom woodwork by Fusteria Planella, metal details by METÀL·LIQUES, and lighting by Simon. The integration of local craftsmanship adds warmth and authenticity to the interior, enhancing the welcoming atmosphere.

A Thoughtful Model for Contemporary Veterinary Architecture
Rosvet Veterinary Clinic sets a benchmark for how small-scale healthcare architecture can be both highly functional and emotionally resonant. With its emphasis on clarity, transparency, and patient comfort, the clinic exemplifies how spatial design can improve experiences for both animals and humans.
