Jenga House by studio gm – Architectural Harmony Between Playfulness and Nature

Located in Val-de-Cans, Brazil, Jenga House by studio gm is a modern architectural marvel that redefines the relationship between structure, nature, and human experience. Designed by architects Guto Delgado, Mylena Oliveira, and Letícia Ferreira, this 6082-square-foot residence draws inspiration from the timeless balance and playfulness of the game Jenga, merging architectural precision with organic integration.

A Site Rooted in Nature

From the beginning, the project embraced the natural essence of its site. Two grand trees at the entrance became the guiding anchors of the design, dictating both form and orientation. Visitors approach the residence through winding paths that weave through dense greenery, revealing the structure gradually—creating a cinematic, sensory journey from nature to architecture.

Architecture that Breathes with the Landscape

The first pavilion, tall and enclosed by expansive glass frames, opens entirely to the lush exterior. It dissolves the boundaries between indoors and outdoors, immersing the inhabitants in a dialogue with the surrounding vegetation. Here, living spaces merge seamlessly with courtyards and gardens, emphasizing transparency and openness.

Hidden within this main volume is a discreet functional block containing the kitchen and laundry—spaces that maintain practicality without interrupting the architectural flow. A connecting circulation zone leads to the private wing, designed as a sanctuary of peace and reflection.

Spatial Balance and the ‘Jenga’ Concept

The house derives its name from the iconic block-stacking game, symbolizing both balance and playfulness. The bedroom pavilion appears to float slightly away from the primary structure—an architectural move that suggests a delicate act of suspension. This gesture not only defines the visual identity of the residence but also reinforces the theme of lightness, proportion, and harmony.

Every bedroom opens to a garden corridor and an expansive terrace that stretches toward the pool, offering a seamless indoor-outdoor connection. A custom-made game table sits at the heart of the home, celebrating the clients’ love for play and social interaction—turning recreation into architecture.

Modern Minimalism with Emotional Depth

Jenga House follows modernist principles—clean lines, pure forms, and minimal materials—yet exudes warmth through texture and light. Locally sourced materials like wood, glass, and concrete form a refined palette that balances rawness with elegance. Designer furniture by Jader Almeida, Sergio Rodrigues Atelier, and Wentz adds sophistication without excess.
