Europan 16 Award Winner, Living Cities _ Special HonoursEuropan session 16 was entitled “Living Cities - Metabolic Vitalities & Inclusive Vitalities”. The concept of a "living city" is defined by its environment, evolution, and adaptation. This is characterized by movement in time and space. Our project is based on the three temporalities specific to the site: the tide, the unstable time related to climatic hazards; the day, the short and recurring time of daily life; and the seasons, the time of human and natural constructions. These cycles demonstrate the constant dynamics of the living city and its multiple, evolving uses.
We propose for Quimper a vision of a neighbourhood that is conscious of its natural rhythms. The Rozmaria district will be the foundation for the dynamic integration of nature into the city. Constructions, plantations, and paths will create connections between the districts and the topography. The natural spaces will interact with each other through the flow of water and the interaction of biotopes. This will be a step towards a more resilient and appealing urban space.
