Baker Baker by oftn studio – A Sensory Coffee and Bakery Experience in Seoul
Baker Baker in Seoul blends coffee, bakery, and community, using natural materials and sensory design for an immersive, participatory experience.
Baker Baker, designed by oftn studio, is a thoughtfully curated coffee shop and bakery that goes beyond serving bread—it is a dynamic community hub that fosters connection, participation, and shared experiences. Located in the heart of Seoul, this 149 m² space brings together locals and visitors alike, creating a vibrant environment inspired by the communal energy of public squares.

A Space for Connection and Participation
The design of Baker Baker encourages both active and passive engagement. The layout blurs the boundaries between customer and employee movement, creating a flexible, inviting environment that welcomes exploration and participation. Visitors are naturally drawn to experience the brand, whether by observing the baking process, interacting with the space, or simply lingering in its warm atmosphere.

Sensory-Driven Design
At Baker Baker, the essence of bread is expressed through a variety of sensory elements. Visual, olfactory, and tactile experiences come together to activate community interaction and create a memorable, multi-layered space. The interiors are deliberately kept variable and open, allowing for a dynamic flow of people, stories, and activities that evolve throughout the day.

Materiality and Atmosphere
The interior design emphasizes primitive materials such as concrete and wood, bringing warmth and authenticity to the space. Instead of polished or glossy finishes, the design highlights materials’ natural textures and aging properties, allowing visitors to feel the passage of time, seasons, and weather. This approach not only creates a comfortable and natural environment but also celebrates enduring beauty that improves with age.

Experiencing Bread in Its Purest Form
Baker Baker integrates the baking process into the visitor experience. Customers naturally follow the flow of the bread-making space, witnessing and smelling the process, which adds an immersive, educational element to their visit. This borderless approach focuses on the essence of bread and the brand, fostering a deep sensory connection between the product and its patrons.
