Caburi House: A Timeless Interior Design by ARCHITECTS OFFICE
Caburi House by ARCHITECTS OFFICE blends symmetry, modernist furniture, and timeless design, creating a cozy, elegant São Paulo residence.
Redefining Interior Spaces in São Paulo
Caburi House, designed by ARCHITECTS OFFICE, is a stunning example of how interior design can transform a residence into a haven of coziness, integration, and timeless elegance. Located in the vibrant city of São Paulo, Brazil, this 210 m² house underwent a thoughtful redesign in 2022 to align with the evolving needs and aspirations of its long-term residents.
Photography by Felco captures the exquisite details of this project, highlighting the interplay of furniture, textures, and carefully curated elements that shape its unique character.

The Vision: Merging Functionality and Aesthetic Harmony
The design goal for Caburi House was to adapt the existing social spaces to better reflect the lifestyle of the homeowners. With over ten years in the residence, the owners desired an updated and more functional layout, with particular emphasis on social areas.
The project’s central themes—symmetry, intimacy, and integration—are evident in every design element, from the symmetrical layout of the living room to the curated mix of heirlooms and modernist furniture.

A Symmetrical Living Room: The Heart of Caburi House
The living room is the focal point of the redesign. Divided symmetrically, the space fosters an intimate atmosphere while encouraging social interaction.
- The Bar and Fireplace: The right half of the room features a sleek bar area with a custom-designed sideboard, while the left half centers around a minimalist fireplace with an elongated rectangular design. The fireplace, crafted from natural stone, echoes the linearity of the sideboard, creating visual balance.
- Statement Sofas and Circulation: Two off-white sofas anchor the space, positioned back-to-back to create seamless integration and dual circulation flows. These pieces, part of the homeowners' collection, complement the symmetry and functionality of the layout.

Entrance Drama: Travertine Marble and Artistic Accents
The entryway sets the tone for the design’s refined aesthetic. Two travertine marble slabs frame the entrance, softened by a wooden panel that creates a theatrical foreground. This panel blurs the outline of the front door, providing a sense of mystery and elegance.
Complementing the light marble, darker-toned canvases by Arcangelo Ianelli add depth and contrast. Suspended by steel cables, these artworks maintain the integrity of the marble while enhancing the symmetry of the space.

Furniture: A Dialogue Between Modern and Classic
Caburi House’s interior showcases a harmonious mix of modernist and contemporary furniture, paired with antique objects and family heirlooms.
Key Furniture Highlights:
- Contemporary Designs: The space features the Amorfa coffee tables by Studio Arthur Casas and Febo armchairs by Antonio Citterio, blending clean lines with functional elegance.
- Modernist Icons: Pieces by Jorge Zalszupin, including the Paulistana and ZC1 armchairs, and a bench by Sérgio Rodrigues, pay homage to Brazil's rich design history.
- Decorative Lighting: The iconic Akari UF4 33N lamp by Isamu Noguchi adds sculptural sophistication, while the specially designed rugs by Paola Muller emphasize the mirroring effect throughout the room.
This interplay of eras creates a hybrid design language, where modern and classic styles coexist seamlessly.

A Cohesive Color Palette and Textural Contrast
The home’s color scheme enhances its timeless ambiance, with a palette dominated by shades of cream, brown, and earthy tones. Textural elements, including stone, wood, and upholstery, further enrich the design.
Each material was carefully chosen to reflect the project’s central theme of continuity and contrast. For instance, the contrast between the smooth travertine and the warmth of the wooden panel underscores the design’s poetic approach to spatial harmony.
A Poetic Dwelling in São Paulo
Caburi House is more than an architectural project; it is a narrative of art, memory, and modernity. By blending symmetrical layouts, curated furniture, and a cohesive palette, ARCHITECTS OFFICE has created a home that embodies the essence of coziness and timeless elegance.
The redesign honors the homeowners’ personal history while embracing a refined, contemporary aesthetic, setting a benchmark for interior design in São Paulo and beyond.
