Bio-based Building Materials: A Sustainable Legacy

The VIP lounge features floor tiles and acoustic wall elements made from a new bio-based building material derived from mycelium, the vegetative part of a fungus. The pavilion's construction relies on steel sheet piling, a material borrowed from a Dutch firm with a branch in Dubai. After EXPO 2020, these materials will be returned to the local construction industry, leaving a low carbon footprint and a pristine building plot.
