Introduction to XO Residence
The XO Residence by 3dor Concepts is a remarkable blend of modern industrial aesthetics and functional architecture. Located in Tanur, Kerala, this 2200 ft² home showcases an innovative approach to modern living by fusing industrial design elements with contemporary minimalism, all while preserving environmental harmony.

Project Overview
- Architects: Ahmad Thaneem Abdul Majeed, Muhammed Jiyad, Muhammed Naseem
- Location: Tanur, Kerala, India
- Area: 2200 ft²
- Year of Completion: 2024
- Photography: Studio IKSHA
The house was conceptualized and completed in a tight schedule of just three months, exemplifying efficiency and ingenuity.

Design Challenges and Solutions
Space Constraints
The compact plot of 6.5 cents required smart planning to incorporate essential elements like parking for three vehicles and maintain a spacious layout. The design cleverly maximized space efficiency without compromising aesthetics.

Preserving Nature
With six mature mango trees on-site, the architects adopted a design approach that carefully integrated the natural landscape. Each tree was preserved, emphasizing the project’s eco-conscious ethos.

Industrial Influence
The client's background in steel trading inspired the integration of steel beams and metallic accents throughout the house. This not only symbolizes his profession but also reinforces the industrial design theme.

Architectural Features
Exterior Design
The XO Residence features a striking façade characterized by concrete and metal. The circular design elements add a unique touch to the industrial aesthetics while blending seamlessly with the lush tropical surroundings.

Interior Design
- Open-Plan Layout: The residence boasts a spacious, open-concept living area that integrates the kitchen, dining, and lounge spaces for better connectivity.
- Floor-to-Ceiling Windows: These allow natural light to flood the interiors, creating a bright and airy ambiance while offering scenic views of the greenery.
- Minimalist Aesthetics: A neutral color palette and clean lines define the interiors, enhancing the modern industrial vibe.

Material Innovation
- Steel Beams: I-section and C-section beams provide both strength and style.
- Eco-Friendly Materials: Fly ash bricks and deck sheets were used to ensure durability and sustainability.
- Efficient Construction: Reduced use of concrete slabs minimized curing time, helping meet the tight project schedule.

Functional and Aesthetic Appeal
Seamless Indoor-Outdoor Connection
The residence blurs the lines between indoor and outdoor spaces by incorporating greenery into its design. Indoor plants and unobstructed views of the landscape foster a strong connection to nature.

Industrial Meets Minimalism
Exposed steel beams, high ceilings, and large windows create an industrial charm, while minimalist furniture and decor add contemporary sophistication.

Rapid and Sustainable Construction
The project was completed within three months thanks to meticulous planning, innovative materials, and efficient execution strategies. The use of lightweight, eco-friendly bricks further reflects the architects’ commitment to sustainable practices.

A Statement of Modern Living
The XO Residence redefines modern industrial home design in India by offering a perfect balance of functionality, aesthetics, and environmental consciousness. It’s a home that speaks to the evolving needs of urban living while respecting the natural environment.
