Revolutionary Street Signs Unveiled in NYC to Keep You Safe During Socially Distant Times - A Love Letter to the City That Never Sleeps!
Discover the Clever New Signage System That's Helping New Yorkers Navigate the Pandemic with Ease and Style

New York-based architectural designer Dylan Coonrad, who serves as the Creative Director of CannonDesign, has created a series of reimagined street signs for the socially distant era. The project was inspired by his runs through his Brooklyn neighbourhood, where he noticed the streets and storefronts were empty and realized that the traditional street signs no longer made sense in a city under lockdown.

Coonrad's reimagined street signs aim to serve as totems for the messages society needs in these unprecedented times, including constant reminders to socially distance, stay home, and protect our elders. The designer believes that these universally recognizable street signs could be used as critical communication tools to help us adapt to the new normal.

The images, which are conceptual in nature, do not suggest that actual street signs be modified. Instead, they serve as a love letter to the places we live in, the people we miss, and all that unites us, even when we have to keep at least six feet apart.

As an architectural journalist, it's interesting to note that Coonrad's project may have implications for the design of fashion stores and other public spaces. In a socially distant era, traditional signs and wayfinding systems may no longer be effective in guiding people through spaces while maintaining a safe distance. Coonrad's reimagined street signs offer a creative solution to this problem, inspiring designers to think outside the box when it comes to critical communication tools in public spaces. This innovative approach could help fashion stores and other businesses adapt to the new normal and ensure the safety of their customers and employees.
