Segreen Business Park: A Sustainable Office Complex Blending Architecture with Nature
Segreen Business Park by Studio Elementare blends sustainable architecture, green roofs, and pedestrian-friendly design to create harmonious workspaces.
Located in Segrate, Italy, the Segreen Business Park, designed by Studio Elementare, is a forward-thinking office development that seamlessly integrates with its natural environment. Spanning 31,000 m², this 2022 project is a prime example of sustainable architecture that fosters harmony between buildings, landscape, and people.

Architectural Vision: Sustainable Expansion
The Segreen Business Park project expands on an existing complex, bridging the former Microsoft headquarters and the Multi-tenant sector of the original Segreen development. Studio Elementare’s design creates a unified business park while respecting the site's natural beauty and maintaining a minimal environmental impact. The project introduces alternating volumes and lush green spaces, acting as connectors between the old and new sections of the complex.

Innovative Building Design and LEED WEEL Standards
A key feature of the Segreen Business Park is its commitment to sustainability and environmental well-being. The former Microsoft headquarters was largely demolished and replaced with a structure featuring expansive green spaces, following LEED WEEL standards that focus on occupant health and comfort. The new office building comprises several distinct volumes, each defined by variations in height, cladding pitch, and color, creating visual diversity while maintaining a cohesive overall design.

Pedestrian-Friendly Layout and Green Roofs
The design prioritizes walkability and integration with the surrounding landscape. The office building functions as a "scenic terminal" for pedestrians, establishing a clear visual connection to the environment. The buildings are arranged to foster an ideal balance between open spaces and pedestrian routes, promoting interaction with nature. Green roofs on the lower buildings feature accessible hanging gardens, offering employees a peaceful retreat while enhancing the building’s environmental performance by improving air quality and reducing heat.

Material Selection and Seasonal Adaptation
The building’s materiality plays a crucial role in its relationship with nature. The façade, made of Alucobond Spectra, features a dynamic surface that changes color depending on the angle of observation and the natural light. This iridescent finish ensures the building continuously adapts to its surroundings, creating a constant dialogue between architecture and the changing seasons.

A New Era of Office Spaces
Segreen Business Park sets a new standard in office architecture, merging functionality with sustainability. The project highlights the potential of modern design to not only meet the needs of today’s workplace but also foster a deeper connection with the environment. With its green roofs, adaptive materials, and commitment to sustainability, Segreen Business Park exemplifies the future of office spaces where people and nature coexist in harmony.
