H.O.M.E Pod - Healing, Organized thoughts, Mediating, Energy-recharging.
Quality time, a priority need that is calling intensively. A need that is not given much importance.
Nowadays, people get exhausted every day in workspaces due to continuous working hours without taking some time off. It is understood that we need to engage with people and to share our ideas with them, but most importantly, we have to arrange our ideas with ourselves first. We strive every day to do some activities that clear our minds and help us to improve our thinking in order to work and communicate with other people better. Sometimes, this can be hard due to the lack of quiet spaces, and we might find some, but they are far from our workplaces, or they are not attractive and comfortable at all. Although the idea is quite new, if it is implemented in a good, effective way, this might encourage many people from all over the world to implement it in their offices, workspaces, and everywhere!
The design suggests that we can have these small pods everywhere no matter where we work or live. Simply, we also can use them near the sea, a beautiful view or even inside a forest.
The first thoughts of the project were about having an adaptive pod while investing the whole given space. To do so, the rectangle was the first step to start from, then the easy-to-install scaffolding structure helped to develop the idea by mounting the pod and moving it without much effort. One of the most important ideas is to feel like we have some special warm space that we can call our small home. To implement this idea, the cuboid pod was a miniature resemble of people’s own private rooms, regarding the exterior and the interior. Inside the pod, the furniture distribution and their forms with the sufficient lighting that comes from the top create a flexible environment that reminds people of their special homes. Also, people can make their own DIY chairs and contribute to the community by making them by themselves. Car tire seating chair was used to emphasize the idea that even the most comfortable chairs can be used by hands and without complicated machines.
While some pods look from outside as a small enclosure that makes the visitor uncomfortable, the cuboid pod with its three one-third transparent fiberglass panels opens to the outer environment without causing a distraction as the sitting person can't be seen outside the pod, due to the colored fiberglass panels that act as a visual barrier while enjoying the light from the top.
Not just privacy needed, as well as silence. To ensure people get quality time, like to only hear our thoughts, ideas, and inner voice without any distraction, fiberglass panels act as a great sound barrier.
Regarding adaptivity; the pod's color could be changed according to the interior or exterior colors. The pods are also comfortable and easy to move and install quickly. Using a small number of PVC pipes that resemble the pod’s scaffolding structure and easy to mount fiberglass panels, makes the project able to get replicated easily without being heavy or hard to move.
The pod achieves high comfortable ambiance inside, minimum furniture is used in the small area to prevent distraction and self-thoughts. It is only consisting of a small area that has: a storage nook, a wireless charging station, and a small area for a potted plant, and they are connected together to make the project much more flexible.
To ensure high-quality air inside, a potted plant was put beside the storage nook and the wireless charging station and that helps in occupying just a small space of the whole pod. Fresh air circulation was also studied, linear openings on the roof with the operable transparent fiberglass panels permit fresh air to cross the pod.
The pod in these scenes was put on the top of a building - it can be any building - but due to its noise absorption it is also efficient inside any function.
Our homes are with us now wherever we are. It is time to give our psychological needs a priority and to leave the stress away, one book might change our life!
