Inspiration

The last year was quite difficult for people, social contacts were kept to a minimum. We all felt it and we missed a live contact with the other person. It was impossible due to the imposed restrictions and keeping a safe distance from each other. As a result, we drifted apart and lost the feeling of security in the presence of the other person, due to the possibility of contracting the virus.

Idea

Even after the pandemic has passed, people still have a diminished sense of security in contact with other people. Our project reflects this situation in it's form and "addition", trying to increase the sense of security when talking to another person live.

Our project - Armchair

The design of the armchair is very ergonomic and organic. It is made of one bent plane forming the seat, backrest, armrests and the structure of the chair. It is supposed to represent lightness and freedom to increase the mental and physical comfort of using this piece of furniture. The design is also inspired by the 80's armchairs to give it a familiar yet modern feel.

Our project - Dome

The dome is fully transparent and you can slide it over your head while sitting. It is height adjustable so that everyone can adjust it to their preferences. It creates a mental barrier, more than a physical one, to increase the feeling of seafty in public areas and during conversations. It also gives you a more individual space where you can feel more cut off from the world and have free thoughts.

Materials

The seat is made of plastic. It has a white color and a rough enough surface to be very sterile, but not cold in nature. The dome rod is made of tube and aluminum spring, and the dome is made of transparent plexiglass (like a salad bowl). Such a selection of materials makes the chair very durable and light at the same time.

Location

The chair can stand both at home and in public spaces, such as a shopping mall. It provides greater comfort and will certainly be a form of entertainment and something unusual in these spaces.

Miss’a Salatowa - meaning

The name of our project comes from the Polish name - a salad bowl. The idea of using it seemed as crazy as it was fun. It corresponds to the absurdity of a period that we all went through the pandemics, and such a new lightness in the subject of covering the face in conversation can give that spark to bring our society back to its pre-pandemic state.
