THE MODULAR: BEAUTIFUL MEETING
The PG-01 module as a solution approach to the housing crisis?
The discovery of modular housing has been an exciting experience for me. The design of the PG-01 modular apartment building opened my eyes to this new and innovative way of building that may solve tomorrow's housing problems worldwide.
The PG-01 modular building is an innovative concept inspired by beehives. It includes common spaces such as a central green courtyard, parking and commercial space, individual spaces, corridors and stairs.
The initial intention was to achieve an atypical design as the majority of modules on the market have a paved shape, so the hexagon of the beehive was chosen. Then the hexagon was stretched for height-to-surface functionality constraints as the modules should not exceed the known dimensions in order not to cause problems during transport.
An irregular hexagon was obtained and its structure was designed to allow a solid and compact connection between the modules, as well as the passage of pipes and water supply and various cables.
The choice of materials was inspired by modules already designed and built in the world (sandwich panels, steel, etc.)
