Behold the Magnificence of Anish Kapoor's Monumental Outdoor Sculptures in His Biggest UK Exhibition Yet!
Are You Ready to Experience the Massive and Mesmerizing Works of Anish Kapoor in the Great Outdoors?

Anish Kapoor, the celebrated British sculptor known for his ambitious and adventurous works, is showcasing his seminal pieces at Houghton Hall in Norfolk for the exhibition titled "Anish Kapoor at Houghton Hall." Despite being postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the exhibition is now open to the public and features 24 sculptures, drawings, and smaller works representative of Kapoor’s groundbreaking body of work created over the past four decades.

The exhibition challenges the classical architecture of the house and the idyllic beauty of the grounds, while being in continuous dialogue and engagement with Houghton’s history. This makes it a must-visit for anyone interested in the intersection of contemporary art and architecture.

Curated by Mario Codognato, the exhibition at Houghton Hall features some of Kapoor’s major works in mirror and stone, including Sky Mirror (2018) - a 5-meter diameter mirror of stainless steel that reflects and transforms the space around it, turning the world upside down. This piece is particularly fascinating for its ability to blend seamlessly with the surroundings while also creating a dramatic effect.

Other works on display include a series of carved marble sculptures created between 2001 and 2003, which will be displayed across the grounds. A number of works are also shown inside the house, including a series of dramatic sandstone sculptures presented in the gallery spaces.

For those interested in the fashion industry, Kapoor’s works offer a unique perspective on materials and form. His sculptures are adventurous in both form and engineering across vastly different scales and materials, making them particularly relevant to those in the fashion and design fields.

Some notable pieces in the exhibition include Untitled, 1997, Kilkenny limestone, Eight Eight, 2004, onyx, and Sophia, 2003, marble, all of which offer a stunning blend of materiality and form. Additionally, Untitled, 2018, granite and Cobalt Blue to Apple and Magenta mix 2, 2018. Spanish and Pagan Gold to Magenta, 2018. Garnet to Apple Red mix 2 to Pagan Gold to Spanish Gold, 2018. Spanish Gold and Pagan Gold mix, 2019, offer a fascinating exploration of color and texture.

Overall, the Anish Kapoor exhibition at Houghton Hall is a must-visit for anyone interested in contemporary art, architecture, and design. Kapoor’s works are sure to inspire and challenge visitors with their ambitious and adventurous approach to materials, form, and engineering.
