Ca sa Verdurera House by BUC Arquitectura
Ca sa Verdurera House by BUC Arquitectura is a renovated Mediterranean home in Mallorca, blending traditional stone architecture with contemporary interiors.
Ca sa Verdurera House is a thoughtfully restored residence located in the historic core of Campos, a picturesque village in southern Mallorca. Originally part of a small grocery store, the home had remained largely untouched for over 40 years, preserving its authentic Mediterranean charm.

Preserving Historic Architecture
BUC Arquitectura prioritized maintaining the original stone structure, thick walls, and traditional layout. The renovation respects the historic context of the village while accommodating modern living needs. By retaining the spatial rhythm of the original home, the architects achieved a balance between preservation and contemporary functionality.
Key Features:
- Original stone walls and arches
- Traditional Mediterranean windowed facades
- Careful spatial organization to maintain privacy and intimacy

Courtyard: Heart of Mediterranean Living
The courtyard, an essential element in Mediterranean architecture, remains central to the home’s design. Serving as an outdoor living space nearly year-round, the courtyard enhances natural ventilation and daylight while preserving the home’s traditional essence.

Thoughtful Material Selection
Sustainability and authenticity guided the material choices. The renovation used locally sourced materials, maintaining continuity with regional architecture:
- Traditional water tiles and marés stone on the first floor
- Marble flooring
- Hydraulic mosaic tiles from the Huguet factory replacing damaged ground-floor tiles
These materials reinforce the Mediterranean character while supporting durability and aesthetics.

Contemporary Interiors with Traditional Charm
The interiors blend historic charm and contemporary comfort:
- Exposed beams and arches
- Strategically placed windows for natural light
- Functional layouts respecting the original structure
Every intervention was unobtrusive, enhancing the home’s livability without compromising the village’s architectural identity.

Design Philosophy
BUC Arquitectura’s renovation philosophy emphasizes:
- Respect for traditional architecture and local culture
- Maintaining privacy, intimacy, and historic character
- Harmonizing modern needs with authentic Mediterranean living
The result is a unique, contemporary Mediterranean home that preserves heritage while offering modern comfort.
