Ecological grazing of Friesian sheep
In our project , the happiness of sheep is the most important. "Ecological grazing of Friesian sheep" is a place that, thanks to its space and solutions used, will provide comfort to breeders and animals. Nowadays, breeders struggle with many economic problems resulting from poor management of the obtained resources. We want to change that and use renewable energy.
The farm project presented by us is intended for rearing Fresian sheep for milk and wool and for the production of organic dairy products. The main hall can accommodate up to 100 sheep. The place for them is separated with appropriate barriers. In separate boxes, there is room for weakened sheep and newborn sheep and their mothers. Keeping sheep is designed on deep litter. Manure removal will be carried out by using a front bulldozer.
The building is properly insulated, protects against moisture and wind so that the animals have a friendly and constant temperature in all weather conditions. The building is properly ventilated and has excellent access to sunlight at any time of the day, thanks to glazing in the roof and wide windows in the walls. There is also direct access to the outside paddock in the main hall.
The main hall is connected to the vestibule. There is a room for people dealing with animals, a room for a veterinarian, and a passage for sheep to the milking parlor where milk is obtained in friendly conditions.
There will be a second designed building on the plot. This building is to serve primarily as a warehouse. One section will contain animal feed, fresh bedding and manure tools. Fresh milk and accessories for obtaining milk and wool properly sterilized will be stored in a separate room. There will be space for the milk to be processed into other food products. In addition, this building has a separate space for the plant manager, employees with cloakrooms and social rooms.
The whole area is surrounded by greenery, among which some benches allow you to relax in a rural setting.
Sheep Friendly Farm General Objectives:
- Personnel keeping animals have the necessary basic knowledge of the health and welfare needs of the animals
- The rearing method including stocking density and indoor conditions ensure that the developmental, physiological and ethological needs of the animals are met;
- The animals shall have permanent access to open-air areas, preferably grazing land whenever weather conditions and the state of the ground allow it;
- Suckling sheep are fed with natural milk, preferably mother's milk;
Ecological solutions - Photovoltaics
Photovoltaic panels convert solar radiation into electricity that is used by devices in a household or a given outbuilding. Solar panels generate electricity during the day.
Agriculture and livestock farming rely on the efficient use of available space. The fertile land is set aside for crops and the animals are grazed elsewhere. In addition, farmers have a high demand for energy, which results from the energy-consuming production process taking place on farms.
Photovoltaic panels will allow you to obtain large amounts of energy and accumulate its reserve. The panels can be installed on farm buildings. It is an ideal place that can be occupied without disturbing anyone's daily activities.
Our photovoltaic panels are placed in two directions on the roof of the main hall to be able to take full advantage of the shining sun during the day.
Why Frezian sheep?
- The milk yield of Friesian sheep (in terms of body weight) is very close to the milk yield of dairy cattle;
-The Friesian produces roughly 300-600 liters of milk, over a 200- to 300-day lactation. To provide a high milk yield, the ewe must receive a high-quality diet;
- Sheep’s milk is a highly nutritious product that has higher concentrations of vitamins (A, B and E) and minerals (calcium, phosphorus, potassium and magnesium) tthan cow’s milk;
- Naturally homogenized;
- A natural for lactose intolerant;
- The great advantage of sheep's milk is that it contains more cream than any other dairy product. That is why sheep's milk is so valued for cheese making - it gives a higher yield;
- Wool is characterized by: thermoregulation - wool has minimal thermal conductivity; Flexibility - wool clothes are flexible and keep their shape for many years.
