Fran Viñas Arquitectos Studio: Sculptural Design in Córdoba’s Urban Landscape
Fran Viñas Arquitectos Studio in Córdoba features a sculptural prismatic design, perforated metal façade, open flexible interiors, spiral staircase, and rooftop terrace.
Nestled in the vibrant Cerro de las Rosas neighborhood of Córdoba, Argentina, the Fran Viñas Arquitectos Studio by FV Arquitectos embodies a harmonious blend of sculptural elegance, functional efficiency, and material sophistication. Completed in 2024, this architectural studio occupies a compact 96 m² plot, strategically positioned just a few blocks from the “Mujer Urbana” traffic interchange, demonstrating a sensitive approach to urban integration.

Sculptural Presence on a Narrow Urban Lot
Conceived as a prismatic architectural volume, the building asserts its presence on a deep and narrow lot, with only a 50 cm setback from adjacent property lines. Its sculptural form enhances the streetscape while maintaining a subtle urban dialogue, demonstrating how compact architecture can make a strong spatial statement without overwhelming its context.

Façade as Architectural Identity
The main façade of the studio introduces a sophisticated interplay between transparency and privacy. A perforated metal screen functions as both a protective veil and a defining architectural gesture, moderating sunlight and creating a controlled visual connection between interior and exterior. This design strategy not only ensures privacy but also establishes a distinctive identity for the studio within the urban fabric of Córdoba.

Interior Design: Fluidity and Natural Light
Inside, light color palettes and thoughtfully positioned openings maximize natural daylight, enhancing the perception of space. Custom-designed furniture with curves and counter-curves introduces a dynamic rhythm that contrasts the building’s orthogonal geometry, producing a flexible and inspiring workspace for architects. The interior emphasizes open-plan functionality, with service areas and vertical circulation neatly grouped at the rear.

Sculptural Vertical Circulation
A spiral staircase serves as the internal landmark, combining functionality with artistic expression. This sculptural core organizes the flow of the studio while adding a sense of movement and continuity throughout the space. Its placement at the rear optimizes open floor areas, allowing for adaptable workstations, meeting zones, and collaborative areas.

Rooftop Terrace: Social and Contemplative Space
The architectural journey culminates in a rooftop terrace, extending the studio’s social and creative life outdoors. This accessible terrace is designed as a space for both informal gatherings and quiet reflection, offering panoramic views of Córdoba and enhancing the building’s experiential quality.

Materiality and Craftsmanship
The project showcases meticulous attention to materials and craftsmanship, featuring collaborations with renowned manufacturers such as Holcim, Indusparquet, Neolith, Aluar, and Roca. The restrained yet expressive use of wood, metal, and stone reinforces the building’s contemporary aesthetic while maintaining a timeless architectural language.

The Fran Viñas Arquitectos Studio represents a refined synthesis of formal clarity, spatial flexibility, and material sensitivity. Its sculptural presence, functional interior, and thoughtful urban integration exemplify the studio’s commitment to contemporary architecture that responds to both human needs and the cityscape.
