A Modern Timber House Blending Technology and Nature

Designed for residents who value elegance, simplicity, and connection to nature, House Scheid 120 integrates expansive glass façades that dissolve boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces. The residence uses a glued laminated timber (GLT) structural system with walls and ceilings crafted from reforested Eucalyptus Saligna, harvested from the architects’ own plantation. This commitment to renewable materiality ensures thermal comfort, acoustic quality, and long-term durability.

The horizontal form, flat roof, and clean lines allow the architecture to quietly settle into its surroundings. Built on a modular grid of 120 x 120 cm, from which its name originates, the design offers four adaptable floor plan variations, accommodating diverse living styles and spatial needs.

Modular Thinking and Clean Construction

Sustainability is embedded into the project through an intelligent, low-impact construction system. Structural components—columns, beams, and wall modules—are manufactured in a controlled factory environment, reducing waste, optimizing precision, and significantly accelerating onsite assembly. This prefabricated approach minimizes energy consumption during construction while ensuring exceptional quality control.

The result is a home that champions clean, efficient, and responsible building practice, aligning with global trends in modular architecture, timber construction, and low-carbon residential design.

Inspired by a 1970 Modular Vision

House Scheid 120 revisits and reinterprets the modular housing concept envisioned by Alôncio Scheid and architect Mauri Poisl in 1970. Their earlier project—House Turiscar—explored flexible layouts and adaptable construction systems designed to meet changing family needs. NV Arquitetura updates this legacy with contemporary technology, precision-engineered wood, and minimalist aesthetics, bringing a timeless vision into a modern context.

This continuity across generations reinforces the idea that modular architecture not only simplifies building but also creates environments that are emotionally resonant and profoundly connected to human experience.

A Refuge of Comfort, Time, and Sensory Well-Being

House Scheid 120 was conceived as a retreat for those who prioritize time, nature, and uncomplicated living. Large openings frame the surrounding garden, encouraging natural light, cross ventilation, and visual calm. Interior selections—curated through collaborations with brands such as Roca, Docol, Hunter Douglas, Estofare, Artezan Tapetes, and others—create a warm atmosphere defined by craftsmanship and material authenticity.

The architects describe the home as an extension of a lifestyle rooted in balance, sensory comfort, and architectural simplicity. Wood becomes both a structural element and a narrative thread, merging ancestral building techniques with emerging technologies. The result is a welcoming, serene, and highly efficient residence that embodies NV Arquitetura’s belief that architecture has the power to transform everyday life.
