Meydan HQ by Loci Architecture + Design: A Sustainable Pavilion in Dubai’s Urban Fabric
Meydan HQ blends sustainable design, natural light, and energy efficiency, creating a modern, biophilic workspace seamlessly integrated with its surroundings.
Meydan HQ, designed by Loci Architecture + Design, is a cutting-edge office and retail headquarters in the heart of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Spanning 18,285 m², this state-of-the-art commercial development seamlessly integrates with its surroundings, positioned between residential blocks, a major road, and an adjacent park. The design vision was to create a modern pavilion in the park, blending autonomy with contextual sensitivity.

Seamless Integration of Nature and Architecture
The project prioritizes a strong visual and physical connection to nature, establishing an inviting internal street that links the supermarket, retail spaces, and dining areas directly to the park. Expansive skylights and lush landscaped courtyards flood the interiors with natural daylight, reinforcing an open and dynamic environment.

Innovative Facade and Massing Strategy
The architectural form is driven by function, with a solid base punctuated by carved openings that announce key entrances to the supermarket, office lobby, and park. The upper-level offices are extensively glazed, oriented around a central green courtyard to maximize park views while maintaining a balance of privacy and openness. The layout consists of a mix of open-plan workspaces, glass-enclosed offices, and flexible meeting rooms, encouraging collaboration and interaction.

Sustainable Materiality and Climate-Responsive Design
Meydan HQ’s material palette and facade strategy respond directly to Dubai’s climate. The textured precast concrete base provides thermal mass, while deep vertical glass fiber-reinforced concrete (GFRC) fins shade the upper glazing, mitigating solar heat gain without obstructing views. Insulated panels further enhance thermal efficiency, reducing reliance on artificial cooling.
At the upper levels, the MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) systems are discreetly integrated, maintaining a clean aesthetic. The rooftop is covered with photovoltaic solar panels, generating electricity to offset operational costs and enhance the building’s energy efficiency.

A Benchmark for Sustainable Urban Headquarters
Meydan HQ is more than just a corporate office building—it represents a progressive approach to sustainable commercial architecture in Dubai’s evolving urban landscape. By merging biophilic design principles, passive climate control strategies, and an intuitive spatial layout, Loci Architecture + Design has delivered a forward-thinking workplace that fosters well-being, productivity, and environmental responsibility.
