Nansheng Center by MUDO Architects & Do Design Group: A New Landmark in Wenzhou
Nansheng Center is a sustainable mixed-use skyscraper in Wenzhou, featuring nature-inspired design, office spaces, retail, and public green spaces.
A Visionary Skyscraper Redefining Urban Development
Located in Yongjia Village, Wenzhou, Nansheng Center is the latest high-rise development by MUDO Architects and Do Design Group. With a height exceeding 140 meters and a total floor area of 43,000 square meters, this mixed-use skyscraper is a striking addition to the city’s evolving skyline. Positioned along the main avenue connecting the village center and downtown Wenzhou, the site benefits from a well-developed transportation network, making it a prime commercial and business hub.

Architectural Concept: Inspired by Nature
The design of Nansheng Center takes inspiration from the surrounding mountainous landscape, featuring a layered, stacked volume that mimics natural rock formations. The curtain wall façade varies in mullion width to emphasize verticality and create visual dynamism. Between the stacked volumes, continuous glass panels extend from the ground level to the rooftop, enhancing transparency and light penetration. From a distance, the building appears as a sculptural mountain-inspired form, integrating seamlessly with the region’s topography.

Urban Integration & Public Space
The urban design strategy of Nansheng Center ensures a harmonious transition between the high-rise office tower and the surrounding low-rise residential and retail areas. To the east, a green park and waterfront promenade create a pedestrian-friendly environment. The 26th-floor outdoor platform offers panoramic views of Naxi River and the nearby hills, providing a serene retreat for office workers.
At the street level, the ground floor retail shops maximize commercial frontage, enhancing the vibrancy of the urban streetscape. The second and third floors are designated for restaurants and communal dining spaces, while office spaces occupy the floors above. A riverside pocket park near the main entrance serves as both a green public plaza and a circulation space during peak hours, fostering community interaction.

Sustainability & Green Building Strategies
Nansheng Center integrates eco-friendly architecture and sustainable design principles to reduce environmental impact. The project incorporates:
- Native landscaping to enhance biodiversity and minimize maintenance costs.
- Permeable paving to mitigate the urban heat island effect and improve stormwater management.
- Energy-efficient systems to optimize thermal comfort and lower energy consumption.
By combining green building strategies with a forward-thinking urban vision, Nansheng Center is more than an architectural landmark—it is a catalyst for sustainable urban growth in Yongjia Village.

Shaping the Future of Wenzhou
As a mixed-use development that blends commercial, office, and public spaces, Nansheng Center sets a new standard for urban architecture in Wenzhou. The project’s thoughtful design not only enhances the city’s skyline but also provides a high-quality work and leisure environment for the community. With its innovative form, sustainable approach, and cultural sensitivity, this tower is poised to become a model for future urban developments in the region.
