Architectural Concept & Design Philosophy

Cloud Mirror reimagines the traditional cemetery by fusing artistry, personalization, and landscape design to create a peaceful and warm humanistic environment. The architects aimed to move beyond the conventional solemn and somber cemetery design, instead cultivating spaces that inspire tranquility, mental relaxation, and emotional healing. The memorial park functions as a vital space for both the living and the deceased to coexist harmoniously with nature, symbolizing symbiotic and joyful relationships between humanity and the natural world.

At the heart of the design is the symbolic use of the equilateral triangle, derived from star-shaped geometric elements. The triangle represents stability and balance, serving as the foundational motif throughout the park’s architecture and layout. This geometric theme is further inspired by the stars, nebulae, and the constellation of the Big Dipper — specifically the star Yaoguang (Alkaid) at the constellation’s handle. Historically, this star has symbolized auspiciousness, fearlessness, and rebirth, lending profound cultural meaning to the design.

Architectural Features & Spatial Experience

The Cloud Mirror structure appears to float within the valley, resembling a gigantic star that reflects the cosmos above. The central architectural element is a triangular skylight courtyard, thoughtfully designed to integrate natural light and shadow with the structural geometry. Throughout the day, sunlight streams through glass skylights and a delicate leaf installation in the courtyard, filtering down through translucent glass brick walls into the memorial hall below. This natural illumination creates a sacred and ethereal atmosphere, symbolically linking heaven and earth, yin and yang.

The use of triangular frameworks in the roof and corners enhances the interplay of light and shadow, offering visitors a contemplative experience imbued with clarity and ceremonial reverence. The architectural forms and materials—carefully chosen in collaboration with manufacturers like Gangshunbao, Huacai, and Huajian Profile—highlight precision craftsmanship and ecological sensitivity.

Cultural & Ecological Significance

More than just a cemetery, Shijiazhuang Ander Memorial Park acts as an emotional and ecological bridge connecting the departed and the living. It redefines the memorial space as a place of ecological healing and emotional restoration, transforming the ancient commemorative function into a living, breathing part of the community. This approach reflects modern values by combining ecological landscape construction (led by Shengjing Guoxin Ecological Landscape Co., Ltd.) with humanistic and artistic design, thus enriching the cultural and practical significance of contemporary memorial parks.
