The Soar library project is designed to meet the needs of the local people of Kumasi, Ghana, where there is a strong need for cultural growth and an increase in the level of study. For this reason, our design team started designing with the inspiration of the book, which is the main source for increasing science and knowledge, and two wings have been considered for the library building, which shows the open arms of those who are interested in science and knowledge. so that by using library resources and interacting with each other, they can help to improve themselves.

The Soar Library has an open space at the entrance of the building for group work and cultural activities. One of the main design goals of this library is to develop healthy relationships between visitors.

Due to the climate of Ghana, numerous openings and terraces have been planned throughout the building to provide a sense of comfort and convenience for the users in the long term by creating spatial diversity.

The building is divided into three floors, the ground floor is dedicated to the administrative department and the study hall, one staircase and two elevators are considered for moving between the floors, but to maintain safety, the first floor study hall has exclusive access to the first floor.

The second floor has the lowest level of occupancy among the other floors, which but, has compensated for this lack of access to the largest terrace. The terrace of the second floor includes interaction and group spaces that have a direct view of the gallery and cafe, and invite the users of these spaces to the terrace.

The main material used is concrete, which is combined with glass throughout the first floor corridor and the second floor gallery.

Concrete in humid weather will see moss over time. The creation of these mosses in the future will make the building more compatible with the surroundings because there are many green fields around this site.

The solid columns that help the stability of the first floor have created a colonnade that provides shade in the hot seasons of the year to form daily gatherings.

Urban open-space furniture including colonnade, terraces and open entrance space are used, native materials are used and efforts have been made to make them consistent with the whole volume.

The placement of the amphitheater hall on the second floor has caused the visitors to walk around the building involuntarily to reach their destination.

The orientation of the building on the site is such that it prevents the annoying direct light and its openings are in the direction against the wind and heavy rains.

Full and empty spaces and asymmetric left and right wings create visual diversity for the audience and prevent it from being monotonous.

The library is a space that has regular visitors for long-term study, the effort has been to provide a space for living and comfort for those who spend many hours in this place, including cafe, terrace, reading room.

Soft and tender spaces for children that are encouraged to study while playing with their peers and interacting with the respective teachers and supervisors.

Social and study spaces for adults and teenagers are designed to be used for school and university group activities.

In addition, a number of jobs have been created for young and active workers in various administrative, study, and entertainment sectors, which can attract more audiences by creating benefits for the families and acquaintances of the personnel.

In the end, we hope to see the increasing progress of the people of Kumasi city in the future because our effort has been to provide a warm and friendly environment for interaction and use of all ages.
