A happy place to live
Creating a good happy place for the kids to bond and experience life like any other child in their age was the heading from the start.
we tried to visualize a place where children can feel an attachment to the place through memories and experiences
a place where they can express themselves and interact with their surroundings
when we took a glimpse how do children inhabit spaces we found out they do that through playing exploring and learning in a physical space, which provided us with a conception of how we should go around this project we decided to focus on creating open spaces for kids to explore, in addition to that the spaces had to be integrated seemingly with the project by introducing the ramp that goes revolving around the project creating open terraces and to some extent a small expedition for the kids to develop their senses. children can also use the space to gather build relations. we also decided to allow the usage of bikes on the ramp to add one more different experience for the children.
We tried out different ways to approach the open space and the idea of the ramp emerged out as the winner as it provided us a safe space that can allow children to be free.
We organized the program of the building in a way that the ground floor is composed of all the gathering spaces like the dining an indoor playground an open court to allow natural light and induce liveliness
On the typical floors, we started arranging wards and other vital functions of the program to be away from the noise and to provide a calming space.
An opening in each floor allowed access to the open terraces connected to the ramp to provide additional relieving space for the children and their families.
we wanted the hospice to be a place where the whole family can feel at ease and find an escape from their child's treatments.
we decided to go for a minimal vibe when it comes to our choice of materials we chose white to be the dominant color due to its calming effect and we introduced the wood to windows as complement and also to give a more natural look building.
Our main objective of creating playful spaces for the children was met not only by the open court in the middle of the building that induces light and energy having the tree in the middle to provide comfort but also through the outdoor playing area in the back of the building we changed the linear movement of lines to drive a good contrast attracting kids minds and eyes to different outdoor activities that the kids can indulge in from the sandy playground with various
Natural environments represent dynamic and rough playscapes that challenge motor activity in children
the notion of the outdoor versatile play in a natural environment that may have a positive impact on the child's development made it clear for us the importance of introducing various spaces and zones where kids can connect to their physical surroundings.
Our hope fr the project is to be a place for kids to change to ad their ideas on space and create memories. to be a place in which every child has a place of it own inside it a space which he created himself or a space where bonds were established between similarly ill children.
a place where parents were relieved enjoying the presence of their children forgetting their worries and troubles and just having fun with kids. the ramp which revolves around our building can be a place where various activities can be introduced the open spaces we created is for the children to make a happy place.
when we were first introduced to the project we somewhere bordered by the idea of children respice thinking that such young people should have more to experience and discover and felt the necessity to make it our priority to give the children the chance to play, learn and make memories to truly live the life they create themselves in their very own space. their own happy place.
this was a great experience for us to learn and experiment with various new elements and as we hope the children find our place a developing experience we sure developed ourselves.
