Step into the Future with Ma Yansong's Timeless Beacon: A Masterpiece of Architecture!
What inspired Ma Yansong's design of the Timeless Beacon, and how does it challenge traditional architecture?
MAD Architects, the renowned architectural firm based in Beijing, has unveiled their latest creation, a fashion store that marries history and the future. The "Lighthouse of Time," located in Xijiang, China, will be exhibited in the Taipingxu Art Area of the "Art in Qiaoshan - 2022 Guangdong Nanhai Land Art Festival" from December 2022 to summer 2024.

The three-story building structure, wrapped in reflective materials, reflects the environment of the old street, blurring the boundary between the building and its surroundings. The "Lighthouse of Time" aims to juxtapose the two-time scales of "history" and "future" through design, creating a surreal scene that brings people back to imagination.

The towering multimedia lampposts, covered with colourful light clothes, add a dreamy touch to Pingsha Island and Xijiang on the opposite bank. During the day, the colourful clothes flutter in the wind, giving a fresh and romantic vibe to the surroundings. At night, the multimedia lampposts become the new "lighthouse" of Xijiang, illuminating the area with surreal and vibrant colours.

The emotional value and enlightening space carried by the building are the values left by the "Lighthouse of Time" when the function of the place is no longer important. MAD Architects' fashion store invites visitors to perceive the vitality and energy of new life, imagine the unknown, and embrace the future.

The "Lighthouse of Time" is a must-see attraction for anyone interested in innovative architectural design and the fusion of history and the future. Make sure to visit the Taipingxu Art Area during the "Art in Qiaoshan - 2022 Guangdong Nanhai Land Art Festival" to experience this surreal and dreamy masterpiece for yourself.
