Study+-
Study+- is a student housing solution to increase socialism, health, and motivation in a modular, sustainable and economical manner.
Students are valuable assets. They represent the future of a country. While housing becomes more and more expensive, solutions are needed to bring back the balance.
How can we as (student) architects help to achieve economic, modular, and efficient designs while aiming to improve socialism and health that also maintains context to the environment?
The concept starts with offsetting the big portion of the plot to maintain a natural border while creating a clear contour to the building. Subsequently creating a central courtyard within the boundaries of the building, inviting people to socialize, improving movement, and integrating nature.
Each apartment is created out of the same modular pod. In this way, it is possible to detach, renovate, or disassemble the pod to re-use the materials used. All materials will be re-usable and are chosen to fit the sustainable ambitions the project has.
A natural ventilation concept is applied to reduce energy usage and improve health. The basics of the concept lay around the fact that hot air rises while cold air descends. At night cold air is stored underneath the building. During the daytime this cold air will be pumped through the wall of each pod, releasing the cold air into the room. When the cold air is heated, it will flow to a separated channel which releases it into the open air.
In addition to the living area, the plot also features outdoor workout equipment, a table tennis area, car parking lots, and a courtyard. While the ground floor also features a student café, a student shop, a community hall, and an indoor bike and mopped parking space. Between the apartments on both sides, a risen garden is created to add a peaceful place to meet and rest.
