Very good design, with a strong concept and resulting form. As it was an ambitious scheme, some of the more functional elements of the design were under-explained. It leaves you with a feeling that the designers had too much information to convey and had difficulty condensing it into the competition's presentation format.
The design integrates the new way of enjoying the sports with the appearance of architecture with very high quality. When we think about the aim of the competition which is towards for the issue of loneliness in Japanese society and lack of physical experience of sports, this projects has certain possibility to generate a new space for people to enjoy the sports and their interaction.
The strongest points of the concept are on the first page; one is almost tempted to wish that the overly ambitious “main part” would have been solved by more simple means to become one of the many manipulations of the landscape starting quite convincingly in the north-west of the site. Nonetheless, the open-ended structure is a very plausible concept to allow for the free-flowing, casual participation that are at the heart of this competition.
