Urban Meal Mine
Design and architecture of food spaces, restaurants, and urban dining environments that reflect cultural identity and community.
Urban Meal Mine explores how food spaces function as cultural anchors within cities. Members examine restaurant design, kitchen architecture, and dining venues as places where culinary traditions, local materials, and community narratives intersect. The community investigates adaptive reuse and creative interventions in food establishments, from converted warehouses and railcars to new restaurant interiors. Work here considers how design can preserve migrant heritage, regional cooking practices, and the relationship between food culture and urban living.
