Yoko Ono spreads message of peace through global invitation to IMAGINE PEACE

Yoko Ono, the renowned artist and peace activist, has launched a global intervention aimed at promoting world peace. Inspired by her tireless work with John Lennon as a peace activist, the installation, called "Imagine Peace," features Ono's powerful and universal mantra broadcast every evening at 20:22 across the world's most prominent digital screens. The installation will feature local translations of the message in collaboration with CIRCA and Serpentine and will be screened every evening throughout March 2022.

Ono's call for peace marks her return to London's Piccadilly Circus, where she installed a poster carrying the message "Imagine all the people living life in peace," taken from the Lennon-Ono anthem "Imagine" in March 2002. Since the early 2000s, Ono has expressed her invitation to "Imagine Peace" through various mediums, including billboards, advertisements, posters, and tweets.

The concept of "Imagine Peace" was conceived by Ono and John Lennon during their first Bed-In in March 1969, where the couple staged a weeklong peace protest from their honeymoon suite at the Amsterdam Hilton Hotel, boldly communicating their commitment to social justice. In memory of John Lennon, Ono also created the "Imagine Peace Tower" on Viðey Island off the coast of Reykjavík, Iceland, a tower of beaming light that represents wisdom and love and acts as a beacon for all those wishing to contribute to the world peace.

In conjunction with the "Imagine Peace" installation, a limited edition print by Yoko Ono is available for purchase on CIRCA.ART for £100, with 100% of the proceeds donated to the United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF). 

CERF is one of the fastest and most effective ways to ensure that urgent humanitarian assistance, including food, clean water, medicine, education, and shelter, reaches people in need whenever and wherever crises strike.

CIRCA, the digital art and culture platform responsible for the "Imagine Peace" installation, has commissioned new work from both rising and established artists, including Ai Weiwei, Cauleen Smith, and Vivienne Westwood. 

The platform supports a circular model, known as the #CIRCAECONOMY, which is funded by artist print sales and supports their free public art program, creating life-changing opportunities for the art and culture community. "Imagine Peace" is a powerful reminder of the importance of art and its ability to inspire, create change, and bring people together.
