Another Universe: Sustainable Architectural Design for the Future
Redefining remembrance through sustainable green architecture—where memory, nature, and urban design grow together in harmony.
Since cemeteries are often seen as solemn spaces that people do not wish to encounter daily, this innovative complex is designed to seamlessly blend into the urban landscape as a transformative architectural element. This unique architectural concept "Another Universe", envisioned by Helen Sporsheva, redefines traditional cemetery spaces by integrating a green architecture approach that fosters an evolving, sustainable environment over time—symbolizing eternity.

A Three-Dimensional Spatial Experience
The architectural design comprises three distinct spatial zones:
- Closed Spaces – A thoughtfully designed memorial complex complemented by a restaurant, offering visitors a peaceful place to reflect and remember.
- Semi-Open Spaces – A columbarium where memories are preserved while maintaining an intimate connection with nature.
- Open Spaces – A dynamic park structure situated on the complex’s roof, forming an eco-friendly landscape that integrates greenery and public spaces into the surrounding urban fabric.
Sustainable and Time-Responsive Design
This architectural innovation is not static—it grows and evolves over time. The green park structure atop the memorial complex is designed to develop gradually, mirroring the passage of time and signifying perpetual memory. By merging natural elements with cutting-edge biophilic architecture, this project serves as a model for urban spaces that prioritize both remembrance and sustainable urban growth.

A Harmonious Intersection of Life and Legacy
This project is a testament to how architecture can reimagine the spaces we associate with loss, transforming them into places of tranquility and renewal. By embedding cemeteries within evolving public landscapes, we create spaces that honor the past while embracing the future—allowing memory and modernity to coexist harmoniously.
“Another Universe” by Helen Sporsheva is a visionary project that challenges conventional architecture by integrating biophilic design, sustainability, and urban adaptability.
