Harmonizing Architecture with Nature

The Assais House, designed by Riccioppo Arquitetura, is a contemporary residence that embodies the perfect fusion of nature, functionality, and Brazilian design identity. Conceived for a man in his 50s who travels frequently for work, the home serves as a serene retreat for rest and contemplation, seamlessly connecting indoor spaces with the natural surroundings.

Innovative Single-Story Design on a Sloped Terrain

Despite the steep slope of the plot, the client desired a single-story residence. The architects solved this challenge by creating a suspended block, supported by a Y-shaped concrete pillar. This solution elevates the main living spaces — including the social area, gourmet kitchen, four suites, and pool — to the highest point of the land, offering uninterrupted panoramic views.

Large glass panels, spanning over 15 meters in length and 4.5 meters in height, ensure visual integration with the landscape, abundant natural light, and cross ventilation. Functional areas like the garage, laundry, and gym are discretely positioned on the lower floor.

Tropical Minimalism and Materiality

Architect Giovanni Riccioppo defines the home’s aesthetic as “tropical minimalism”, where natural materials take center stage. Key materials include:

  • Atacama stone for flooring and surfaces
  • Cumaru wood for warmth and texture
  • Exposed concrete for structural elegance
  • National Travertine marble for refined detailing

Cabinetry doubles as a cladding element, concealing doors and adding rhythmic patterns throughout the spaces. The result is a 500 m² residence with striking volumetry that balances sophistication with Brazilian authenticity.

Curated Interiors and Designer Furnishings

The interiors are fully furnished with pieces by Brazilian designers, highlighting:

  • Jader Almeida’s Lobb dining table and Drey chairs
  • Pátio Brasil furniture for outdoor areas
  • A century-old tree root coffee table
  • A closet with natural leather interior finishes

These elements reflect the project’s commitment to exclusive, high-quality design while harmonizing with the natural and minimalist aesthetic of the house.
