Campus Iberdrola by ABAA Arquitectura: A Sustainable and Flexible Architectural Landmark
Iberdrola Campus by ABAA Arquitectura is a sustainable, flexible, and energy-efficient corporate hub integrating bioclimatic design, green technology, and innovation.
The Iberdrola Campus, designed by ABAA Arquitectura, is a cutting-edge architectural project in San Agustín de Guadalix, Spain. Spanning 43,934 m², the campus embodies flexibility, sustainability, and innovation, creating a dynamic environment for education, collaboration, and corporate engagement.

A Masterplan Rooted in Flexibility and Sustainability
The campus is structured around a central public plaza, acting as a hub for various programmatic buildings. A large undulating canopy unifies the complex, offering protection from the elements while reinforcing architectural coherence. The design prioritizes efficient access, with separate entrances for pedestrians and vehicles to streamline movement and security.
One of the most distinctive features is the externalized communication cores, allowing easy future adaptations, improved natural ventilation, and optimized thermal performance. By minimizing the building façade’s surface area based on orientation, the design enhances energy efficiency and indoor comfort, reducing reliance on mechanical systems.

Integration with the Landscape
Respecting the site's topography was a key priority, leading to minimal excavation and land disruption. The existing landscape has been preserved and expanded, seamlessly blending the campus with its surroundings. A green roofing system, integrated with photovoltaic and thermal energy elements, provides shade while generating clean energy for the campus.
The urban-scale pergola, visible from the nearby motorway, serves as both an architectural signature and a functional bioclimatic element, improving comfort for users while reinforcing the campus’s environmental responsibility.

Innovative and Energy-Efficient Design
The campus is designed as a self-sufficient urban ecosystem, incorporating a state-of-the-art auditorium with movable façade panels for adjustable natural lighting. The open yet covered parking areas maximize natural ventilation and daylight, enhancing energy efficiency while creating a welcoming public space.
By integrating sustainability-driven architecture with an open and inclusive design, the Iberdrola Campus establishes a new benchmark for green corporate spaces. It not only aligns with environmental and ethical values but also fosters a community-centered experience—truly a city within a city.
