Cedar House by Fernanda Padula Arquitetura & Juliana Risso Arquitetura: A Harmonious Dialogue with Nature
Cedar House in Valinhos, Brazil blends modern architecture with nature, featuring cantilevered designs, floating pool, concrete structure, and warm wooden interiors.
Nestled on a steep hillside with a breathtaking view of a serene lake, Cedar House by Fernanda Padula Arquitetura and Juliana Risso Arquitetura exemplifies modern residential architecture that seamlessly blends with its natural surroundings. Designed to engage with the topography, the home embodies lightness, depth, and a refined connection to the landscape.

Architecture Anchored in Nature
The design strategy of Cedar House is deeply influenced by the site’s natural relief. The entrance is positioned on the upper level, which houses the bedrooms and home office, providing privacy and panoramic views. As you descend the cantilevered staircase, the home unfolds into the social and service areas, creating an open, flowing layout.
The living room, dining area, and kitchen are arranged to maximize the horizon view, fostering a strong indoor-outdoor connection. Massive concrete structures anchor the home, giving it a solid presence while framing the landscape like a living artwork. Strategic openings enhance natural light penetration and ventilation, ensuring comfort and energy efficiency throughout the residence.

Suspended Luxury and Leisure Spaces
Cedar House elevates leisure to an art form. The pool, perched near the treetops, appears to float above the valley, creating an extraordinary sense of suspension and immersion in nature. The basement expands the home’s recreational offerings with a sauna, changing room, and gym, all oriented towards a lawn that opens to the surrounding landscape. These areas are thoughtfully designed to maintain integration with the environment while offering diverse options for wellness and recreation.

Materials and Interior Harmony
The interior design emphasizes natural materials and textures, creating a poetic dialogue between architecture and landscape. Wood finishes provide warmth, while the concrete framework ensures structural integrity and a timeless aesthetic. Furnishings by Domini Móveis, Firmato, and Lucenera complement the home’s material palette, enhancing a sense of cohesion and luxury.
