Cloud 11 Creative Park, designed by internationally renowned architecture firm Snøhetta in collaboration with A49 Architects, is a landmark 250,000 m² mixed-use urban regeneration project located in South Sukhumvit, Bangkok, Thailand. Conceived as a civic landscape that doubles as ecological infrastructure, Cloud 11 sets a new benchmark for climate-adaptive urban design in Southeast Asia. Scheduled to open to the public in 2026, the project reimagines how dense cities can integrate culture, creativity, and environmental resilience within a generous public realm.

Developed for Magnolia Quality Development Corporation (MQDC), Cloud 11 transforms a rapidly evolving urban district into a creative park and cultural destination, offering 24-hour access to green spaces, cultural venues, workplaces, retail, hospitality, and community facilities.

An Urban Oasis Shaped by Bangkok’s Layered Cityscape

Rooted in Bangkok’s distinctive urban fabric—defined by shophouse streets, elevated skytrain infrastructure, and emerging high-rise towers—Cloud 11 is conceived as an “in-between” landscape. Rather than competing with vertical towers, the project adopts an architecture of horizontality, sculpted from the spaces between these layers.

At its heart lies a vast open-air courtyard, functioning simultaneously as the social, climatic, and ecological core of the development. This central green space reconnects fragmented neighborhoods, bridges urban scales, and creates a vibrant civic realm that is open, inclusive, and accessible to all.

Responding to Bangkok’s Climate Challenges

Bangkok faces pressing environmental challenges, including extreme heat, recurrent flooding, air pollution, and one of the lowest public green space ratios in Asia, with less than 7 m² per resident. Cloud 11 directly addresses these issues through a landscape-first design strategy, aligning with Thailand’s Green Bangkok 2030 and Enter Bangkok 2050 initiatives, as well as global climate commitments under the UNFCCC and Paris Agreement.

The elevated courtyard is strategically lifted above flood-prone ground, creating a resilient civic topography that offers passive cooling, natural ventilation, and flood mitigation. Acting as an urban lung, the raised landscape filters air, reduces heat, and supports biodiversity—turning green space into essential urban infrastructure.

A Creative Park for Community and Culture

At the core of Cloud 11 is an expansive public landscape envisioned as an “Adaptable Highland.” The project features Thailand’s largest elevated lawn, a flexible green plateau designed to host festivals, performances, markets, picnics, and everyday leisure. Surrounding this central lawn is a network of pocket parks, plazas, and courtyards, creating a diverse and inclusive social environment.

The park is programmed for all generations: – Sports courts and playgrounds support active recreation – Therapy gardens and rest pockets provide calm spaces for reflection – Cultural venues and performance areas encourage community expression – Urban farms, herbal gardens, and water play landscapes invite participation, learning, and shared stewardship

Through this layered approach, Cloud 11 functions as a social condenser, fostering intergenerational and intercultural exchange while strengthening community bonds.

Integrated Sustainability and Ecological Infrastructure

Sustainability at Cloud 11 extends beyond energy efficiency to encompass social and ecological wellbeing. The project incorporates green roofs, shaded façades, and natural ventilation to reduce energy demand, while porous pavements, bioswales, rain gardens, and gravel filtration systems manage stormwater responsibly.

The planting strategy prioritizes locally sourced flora, enhancing water retention during heavy rainfall and supporting urban biodiversity. Mature trees are preserved as living landmarks, anchoring collective memory and cultural identity within the new development. Seating and public furniture crafted from milled timber and recycled plastics further reinforce the project’s low-carbon ethos.

A 24-Hour Creative and Cultural District

Beyond its public landscape, Cloud 11 integrates a diverse mix of programs, including creator villages, production studios, hotels, educational facilities, market halls, and cultural venues. These functions are woven together through a fine-grained circulation network of ramps, alleys, escalators, and shaded walkways—ensuring universal accessibility for children, families, the elderly, and people with disabilities.

Open 24 hours a day, Cloud 11 is designed as a living urban district where work, leisure, culture, and nature coexist seamlessly. The elevated landscape acts as a connective platform, encouraging spontaneous encounters and continuous public life across multiple levels.

A New Model for Sustainable Urban Futures

More than a mixed-use development, Cloud 11 Creative Park represents a transformative vision for Bangkok’s future. By embedding ecological resilience, cultural expression, and social inclusivity into the urban fabric, Snøhetta’s design demonstrates how large-scale developments can give back to the city.

Here, sustainability is not only technical—it is experiential, social, and communal, expressed through play, rest, creativity, and care for the environment. Cloud 11 stands as a powerful precedent for climate-responsive urban regeneration across Southeast Asia and beyond.
