Concon Hotel by ARB Architects: A Vertical Sanctuary in Hanoi’s Old Quarter
Concon Hotel by ARB Architects is a modular, seven-story boutique hotel in Hanoi’s Old Quarter, blending modern design with historic charm.
A Floating Haven in the Heart of Hanoi
Nestled in the dense urban fabric of Hanoi’s Old Quarter, Concon Hotel—designed by ARB Architects—redefines compact hospitality with an innovative vertical concept. Spanning seven floors on a 95-square-meter plot, the hotel appears to levitate, with each level separated by slender columns. This architectural feat seamlessly integrates contemporary design with the city’s historic urban landscape.

A Modular Approach to Hospitality
The hotel design consists of independent three-room units, ranging from 10 to 20 square meters, each surrounding a central core that houses essential services such as elevators, plumbing, and electrical conduits. This modular arrangement maximizes space efficiency while ensuring privacy for guests.

Context-Driven Architectural Vision
Located at the end of a narrow lane, the structure directly abuts an older building, blending modernist sensibilities with Hanoi’s rich architectural heritage. The project was initiated when the site’s developer entrusted his brother as the art director, who then approached ARB Architects to bring the vision to life.
The design reflects the organic growth of Hanoi’s Old Quarter, where traditional homes expand through time, creating nooks and crannies that foster spontaneous social interactions. The architecture embraces this dynamic, offering an intimate yet communal experience for travelers.

A Unique Hospitality Experience
Beyond providing a comfortable stay, Concon Hotel is designed to offer guests a harmonious balance of solitude and social engagement. Visitors can retreat to quiet corners or observe the vibrant energy of the neighborhood from shared spaces. The hotel’s atmosphere mirrors the essence of Hanoi—where tranquility and liveliness coexist.
By stepping into Concon Hotel, guests transition from the city's bustling streets into a serene yet interconnected microcosm, reminiscent of entering a hidden urban hamlet rather than just another building.
